"Incorrect number of thread records" installing max 10.4

I would backup your needed data and boot from the Install DVD. Choose Disk Utility and reformat then "verify" it. Do the install and move your stuff back (if that has fixed it). I've seen the same error on several installs.

"Incorrect number of thread records" installing max 10.4

Have you tried running Disk Utility to Repair the Disk while booted from the Install DVD? It might be the problem is with the threads of the HD you are installing onto, not the DVD. If it is the HD and DU will NOT repair it then you will have to do a backup and reformat.

Installing OSX 10.4. Tiger G4 PowerBook

What is the exact errror message? I've seen messages show after the install tried to do its thing that indicate your drive has damage it could not repair. Only doing a backup and reformat would allow me past the error. So as Twister asks - give us the details.

HOW to install Tiger on blue imac g3 266mhz?

Only Macs with FireWire are supported for Tiger (10.4.x). However you can trade in your Tiger DVD for a 3-CD set. You should have a coupon for this inside the box Tiger came in. They you will have the right media atleast. cheers
