    PHP help!

PHP is already there in10.1 as far as I know. But if you want to compile it you'll need to either log in as root or use the sudo command.

How To Prevent Booting Off A Cd

That site, unsanity, is showing that hackers are starting to get interested in OSX. I knew for instance that you can reset the OF by removing a RAM module and zapping the PRAM three times, but that there are already hacks out to show the password is frightening. And sadly, there doesn't seem to...

    Refugee from Macnn

MacNN refugee. I hope they sort it out, but I'm beginning to have my doubts. In any case this forum, while sucking badly (excuse me) in terms of layout and colour, is a lot faster. Just miss the community feeling from MacNN though.

    MacNN forums still down!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do wonder seriously about MacNN. They have had problems for 2 weeks in a row now and they only started communicating this as of last week tothe users. One of the admins claimed that they had been hacked badly and that their old server, a PII 350, just couldn't cut it. I somehow doubt that...

OS X 10.1 complaints... STRAIGHT FROM APPLE

I haven't installed 10.1 yet but Java is the 1.3.1 version and most Java Applets on the web were written for 1.1.4 or earlier. It shouldn't be a problem theoretically but I have seen quite a few problems using the Java 1.3.1 plug-in in Mozilla on a PC i.e. that the Applets don't run. 1.3.1...

    Forbid APPS in home directory

I agree that using chmod would not be possible. I think , at the moment anyhow, that your best bet would be as was previously mentioned not to install classic as this definitely is a huge security risk. Other things you could do would be to make your user permissions more strict. With 10.1...

    Apache GUI

If you wrote a GUI in Carbon or Cocoa for Apache and Gpl'ed it there is nothing that Apple can do to you. They also have no motivation to do that as those two little panels for sendmail and Apache are not all there is to OSX server. Actually you could even write one that isn't GPL'ed. But...

Vote on the color of this site!

What I like about this site is the speed. PHP is defintely tops in speed. However. There seem to be a few small problems. 1.The fact that the entry rows alternate colour makes it very difficult to place an avatar with a background of the right colour. That is unless you like square avatars...

    10.1 Finder bug, and others

If I remember correctly then OSX is different to the conventional way of selecting in the MacOS. I think (I haven't installed 10.1 yet) that you use control to multiple select items as you do in windows. shift selects all the items continuously in 10.0.4 just as in windows. Maybe Apple has a...
