    iPhone??

Thanks, that makes sense. I love getting fast responses, and I feel the need to say that despite all the turmoil this site has undergone, I still feel it is the great, friendly, useful site I first came upon in my search for OS X info quite a while ago.

Switcher Switched Back - Too Slow They Say

That's because IE is integrated into the user interface of Windows. Maybe if someone made a Mac browser that was more like an invisible but always running utility, like the menu add-ons or FruitMenu or something, then the browser would load fast like on a PC (because it would really already be...

    iPhone??

Ok, I don't know much of anything about web site design, but as far as the "if you go to iphone.org it loads a copy of apple's home page" thing goes please tell us if the following is significant: If you click on any link on the pointed-to Apple page (except .mac) you never leave the iphone.org...

Switcher Switched Back - Too Slow They Say

Also, the graphics card in the cube does not support Quartz Extreme (unless it was upgraded) so Jaguar may be sluggish. I have noticed that while some things are faster on mine, others seem slower or less responsive (more beachball curser action than the rainbow circle ever saw in 10.1). I will...

[HOWTO] - Use Firewire "target" mode

Firewire target disk mode has zero setup - just plug it in and turn it on. Also, what if your system won't start up? then network setup is inaccessible.

    Remember Apple and G5?

Another tidbit to add to your theory, elsewhere in this site there is mention of the G4's in the new towers not really taking advantage of the whole DDR thing. Just thought I'd mention it here, as it seemed appropriate.

No OS 9 will be coming with any machines after Aug 24.

If it is like the previous 10.1 "Upgrade" CD's, there will be a way (supposedly just take the biggest package file from the CD) to make a "Full" install CD, because all the stuff is there, the installer just pretends it needs 10.whatever there before installing.

Do you pay all your software ?

I have very little money, I am a college student from a sub-$20k income single-parent family (2 kids including me). I have software mostly to play with, and the stuff I actually use for productivity I get legally for free (or rather with my technology fee!) from Penn State. We will no longer get...

    iTunes 3 spyware?

I, for one, like the "60's Music" playlist. I have created similar playlists for the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Not sure what to call the next decade. I replaced almost all of my (almost 20) playlists with smart playlists, and I love them! I have 5000+ mp3's, and my only problem with year-based...

    Installed Jaguar 6c98

Scroll down the page for QE, and you'll see this on the bottom right next to the performance comparison graphs. My understanding is that Quartz is really improved on all systems, especially G4's, but Quartz Extreme is only enabled for the (mentioned in above quote) supported graphics cards, and...

What's your Internet connection ? How much ? Worth it ?

I have dialup through school, and my mom just got Earthlink dialup for her PC. Reason: cost. If I want broadband, I have to pay for it, and I don't have enough for school as it is. Also, we don't have cableTV, so cable is not affordable.

What would you like the upcomming MacOS to have?

In theory,a journaled file system would be faster, since it can load directories and files faster.

What if Windows run on Mac natively?

What are you talking about, sneaks? It's an official business meeting, and they call it "R&D". ;) :p

But if you are trying to cover 5 or less people, that should not be too big of a problem. And for anyone with less than 5 people to cover, you get more space than before. The $10 is for the 15M of em@il, so maybe they should offer webspace too for another additional charge; say $20 gets both an...

Sun to push Star Office for OS X!

Just because Apple wants us to do something (esp. pay them $$) does not mean we should. As you so clearly state, Apple is a company, and I say that any company lends itself to at least a little doubt. I will pay an appropriate amount for a good product - NOT because the company wants me too, or...

Supposedly - and if you look around here you'll find the link to the official page saying so - you can keep one account ($49 the first year) and pay $10 per extra em@il account - including the ability to tack existing trial accounts to your paid .mac membership.

For all of you who switched to Hotmail after steaming over .Mac

I never said you have to use .NET, just that your hotmail account name and password are not just for hotmail: M$ automatically sets every hotmail account up w/ .NET accounts with the same name & password. And if you don't pelieve me, look at the signout graphic: Now if you can find a Hotmail...
