    G3 laptop shuts down unexpectedly

you're having a kernel panic. This is usually caused by bad RAM. If you have a chip installed under the airport card, uninstall it and see if it clears up the issue. In the following order, I usually troubleshoot kernel panics in this fashion. RAM, Airport, System (OS), Hard Drive, Logic Board...

    G4 Tiger SCSI Card...

You may want to check out Atto. Their SCSI cards are pretty good (and the only one that would work with a Dual AIT drive setup I had on a G4). According to MacWorld, when Tiger first came out, Atto cards were pretty much the only card reliably working with 10.4.1... Just an opinion though

    Certain pages wont load

You say the problem occurs during log in? Do you have your user/pass saved to the keychain in OS X? If so it could be a keychain issue. You may want to try deleting the keychain file in your user library, or resetting the keychain.

    keychain moodiness ... arrrgh!

Not sure if this will help you, (as from your post it sounds like you've done a new install...) but you may want to try deleting the keychain from your user library. (users/*yourname*/Library/Keychains) put the "login.keychain" file in the trash (don't delete it yet) and see if the problem persists.

    powerbook G4 battery problem

Have you left the Powerbook with no power at all? (i.e. battery out, and charger not plugged in) If not, give that a try... remove the battery and disconnect the charger. Leave it alone for about 15 Mins... and then put ONLY the charger in, and see if it will fire up.

    Can't see external USB harddrive

What can I do to get the system to recognize the external harddrive. The harddrive is currently formatted as FAT32 and partitioned into two 30 GB drives. I know bupkus about PCs... but I think that FAT32 is a PC format.... try opening up Disk Utility and see if your Mac shows something...

    Flickering Screen

Well.. if you purchased Apple Care I'd send it back immediately. (If you haven't bought it, see if you're still available to get it. Depending on what you mean by "just over a year" you may still be able to buy the Apple Care plan... A must have for laptops, IMHO). You may have a bad video card...

Firewire Connection Not Recognizing Digital Camcorder

1st go to your Apple System Profiler to make sure that a FireWire device is being detected. Some cameras also need to be in "PC mode" before they will mount, so read the manual for your camera. Lastly, check out Panasonic's site to see if there are any drivers which need to be installed on your...

How do I transfer Old mail box to New mail box

I've moved mail from machine to machine (10.2.x to 10.3.x, and 10.3.x to 10.3.x), but I have heard some grumblings about upgrading to Mail 2.0 (used in 10.4) I have yet to really poke around 10.4, so I can't be 100% as to the problems and the proccesses, but a way to I've used to get mail from...

    Safari Woes on 10.3.7!!!

Same thing happened to one of our clients' computers. Had her run Firefox instead. (This is on a archive and re-install as well, although it was 10.3.7 to 10.3.7) There were a bunch of other problems with her machine in addition to this that popped up after about a week, so I eventually just...

    Itunes Not Always Playing Songs

I ran into this issue with a G4 to Mac Mini Itunes transfer. The easiest way (I found) to get Itunes to see all your music (rather than directing song by song to the appropriate folder) was to copy all the music to the new drive... then delete the Itunes preferences from the new machine...

Freecom Fx-50 External Drive Is Not Found

If you put a CD in it (i.e. the OS X install disc) will it mount on your desktop? If the OS sees the drive it should. You can also try connecting it via firewire. I have a LaCie DVD burner running Roxio Toast Lite via firewire, and have had no connection issues.

    Right Mouse Button in OSX

I'm running a Microsoft wireless mouse on 10.3.7, right click, wheel, everything works in the applications that are optimized for wheel and right click. No software necessary. And Matt, if you're having a boatload of problems with your OS, you might want to think about an archive and...

Lost Access to Files & Settings after Zapping P RAM

I don't think that zapping the PRAM or in any other situation it is possible for your OS to "revert" from 10.3.9 to 10.2.8 (unless you have a slave drive or other partition with 10.2.8 on it, and in that case you're just booting off of another drive so your 10.3.9 should still be there). From...

    Mail Help

Once your account is set up you can't move it. If you try setting up a new account, then the option to point Mail to a folder other than Library/Mail will be available to you. (Although I must say I've never tried setting up mail anywhere other than the default, though in theory there's no...

Asus Usb Wifi (?) -> Spectacular Crash!

The first place I would check is this: http://www.apple.com/support/ibook/faq/ I've had 4 iBooks (in my company) go down because of this recall. They will periodically regain the screen connection, but as you noted, is either short-lived or spotty at best. In fact, I just sent one back...

    replace CDRom drive in iMac

If the iMac you're looking at is tray loading (which I believe the Bondi is) then it should be ok to use.... It will probably have some more memory in it too, as long as it's not too new (the older iMacs use laptop sized memory, while the newer ones use standard RAM sticks) Check with the seller...

iBook G3 combo drive rejects disks...

I had a similar problem with a 400 MHz iBook for awhile. For some reason, once I put in a CD and closed the tray I had to give it an extra "push" immediately after, otherwise it wouldn't mount, or the computer would spit it back out after a minute or two. Never made sense to me why this worked...

Cisco VPN client for Mac OS X and Networking

Our teleworkers are using the Cisco VPN client to connect to our network from home. (They're running OS X 10.3.7) However, they cannot use the "browse" feature of the Network menu, and so must input our local IP addresses for each machine locally. Since we're DHCP, only our servers are static...
