Is my OS X too slow?

That's basically it. I'm runnin a powerbook with 64 megs of RAM right now, and OS X is uberslow. And it hardly runs Classic. (Endian: Oh, come on. You know you love Classic). I've got 128 more megs coming in in a few days, I imagine that'll spice things up nicely. And it's true. RAM is dirt...

    Contexual Menu

So, since that presumably would involve programming, the contextual menus are not easily editable? You'd have to go an carbonize stuff?

    Change yer Dock font!

BTW, it's easiest to do this logged in as root. Otherwise, you'll have to get messy and move stuff about in Terminal while su'd. Also, certain fonts you can't make bold (Sand, for example. I found that out today). And, I believe if you're logged in as root, the Dock won't automatically open...

    Anonymous FTP

Woo, let's revive an old thread! Anywho, I'm still getting the same thing you were getting at first, DJ. It acts like it's getting a list when I type ls, but in fact it doesn't. I've done everything you said to do, even created a group called ftp with netinfo. Still no. Got any ideas for things...

    Cant connect laser printer...please help

I've been having the same problem. However, I believe I know where the fault is. If someone has gotten this to work or thinks they can get this to work, by all means, tell me. Otherwise March 24th it is... Okay, I've got a powerbook connected to a hub thru ethernet. An old powermac 7200...

    No colorpicker in 4F8?

This is mostly off the topic, but I'm just wondering how on earth you upgraded to 4f8. Did you just buy a new version of the beta when it came out? And if so, wouldn't that add up rather quickly?

    Carbon apps dying!

Right, that\'s what I thought. I mean, I dunno. I\'ve checked, and my entire hard drive is now set to read and write for all, so it shouldn\'t be a problem... but yet, strangely, it still is.

    More Window Options... Window backgrounds?

Slide up the toolbar without pressing cmd-b? Hah! Hahahaha! It\'s all part of Apple\'s plan to annoy the heck out of us just enough to make us dislike using the computer but love it enough not to switch to a lesser system (read: Wintel machine). It\'s a lot like changing the hot keys on us...

    Change yer Dock font!

Hey guys, sorry about that up there. For some reason, it put /// before all the apostrophes. That is really annoying, but I cannot do anything about it, so please just bear with it.

    Change yer Dock font!

First of all, this ain\\\'t exactly a task for the weak of heart (but then, if you\\\'re weak of heart, why are you using a beta operating system?) As with any hack where you\\\'re doing anything potentially dangerous, back up the file you\\\'re working on. Also, you might need to login...

    Carbon apps dying!

Yeah, I\'ve had the same (or similar) problem. Only, it\'s not just Carbon apps, now. Most Carbon apps don\'t work, but a lot of Cocoa apps are now doing it. Logging in as root seems to be the only thing to do. The problem, for me, showed up just after I went through the computer and set all the...

    Terminal/Console no longer work

Help! This is terrible. And probably one of the dumbest things I've ever done. Last night, I was messing around in the Terminal app, and just to see what happened, I typed "logout". It gives me the message "Process Completed". I smiled a little, turned off the computer, and went to bed. Here I...
