What's needed to be fully OS X reliant

(Adobe GoLive 5 has been out for a long time, it isn't a "new" version, 6 will be a new version.) IMO, Adobe creates great Mac software and I think they'll continue to do so: about half of their revenue comes from Mac products. I think the problem is that A) most of their customers are very...

    two quick questions

If that Sony CD-burner uses FireWire or IDE, it's probably supported by Toast 5. Some people say it works with their USB-burners, too - but on my machine Toast 5 crashes (I hava a LaCie USB CD-burner). Maybe you should consider buying a HP printer, I've heard they're trying really hard to get...

    It's Happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mr_mac_x: Mac OS X 10.1 will feature big, structural changes to the OS, changes that may rely on each other and can't be released separately in the form of 10.0.x updates. I'd say the larger the 10.1 update, the better: more MBs = more optimized parts. Typically, .x updates feature new...

What's needed to be fully OS X reliant

Adobe GoLive (demo during Stevenote at MWNY) Adobe Photoshop (won't be available soon) Drivers for Umax Astra 1220u scanner (don't think I'll ever be able to use that scanner with X) Office 10 (this Fall)

    Public Beta Speed

I think it's just you... Maybe OS X Server 1.0 was faster (don't remember, that was over two years ago - plus it didn't include Aqua and lots of other things). DR2, DR3 and PB where slower/less stable on my system (Rev. A iMac - 233 Mhz G3, 160 MB RAM).

I need speed!!! what can I do??

I believe this is true: I used Mac OS X during the first month with a dial-up connection, since the end of April I have Cable, and I did notice a speed increase. I've heard PPP/dial-up isn't fully/correctly implemented in OS X (cfr. Classic compatibility), maybe there are some speed issues with...

I need speed!!! what can I do??

If you installed the DevTools before the 10.0.1 update came out, the speed increase was due to pre-binding done by the DevTools installer. (The original Mac OS X installer on the CD doesn't do pre-binding.) Newer updates of the Mac OS X also use pre-binding, so I doubt installing the DevTools...

    Preview Toast 5 TI

Toast Preview crashes on my (Rev. A) iMac. I have a LaCie USB writer. In the ReadMe, it says nothing about USB-support (only FireWire & IDE), so at first I thought I was out of luck with this preview. Someone else however said that he could successfully burn CDs with Toast on X, using a...

I need speed!!! what can I do??

    (1) Some people say the DevTools slow things down, so If you don't really need them, re-install X without the DevTools. (Maybe you can backup the /Developer/Applications/ folder, it holds some interesting apps that run without the rest of the DevTools). (2) Add more RAM (3) Wait for Mac OS...

    The music app in PB...

I have the music player app that came with the public beta somewhere on a backup cd as a seperate file. It doesn't work on 10.0.x (gives an error upon launch). If someone wants to try to get it to work on 10.0.x, let me know (I'll send you the app by mail).
