    Interesting, when I typed that command in terminal, this is what I got. /: /.Trashes: Permission denied ????? Not sure what It means. I do have some norton items in trash that I cant delete. thats another issue I guess?

    good idea. I first saw it after launching IE 5.2 (didnt happen using os 10.1.5). Just now, it happened after the mac booted up! I didnt even launch a program this time! how can I figure out what the .kext belongs too? is there a way?
