    Export to MP3 from QuickTime?

I have a CAF file that I want to export to MP3. I don't want to use iTunes to do this, since I figure that QuickTime should be able to do it for me quickly. There is no export to MP3 available, however. I looked around on the Web and saw some QuickTime components, but cannot seem to find a...

    Printer problems with Leopard

Actually, I think the following document helped me the most, especially the troubleshooting section. http://www.lexmark.com/lexmark/sequentialem/home/0,6959,204816596_1160493508_0_en,00.html I followed the steps in the troubleshooting section, deleted the correct files, and then re-added...

Game crashes, takes video with it...

While playing World of Warcraft for the last few months, I've noticed a problem that happens during higher framerates in the game where it will crash and take the video with it. My monitor will go blank, and it is as if I turned off the Mac Pro without turning off the monitor first. The game has...

    Printer problems with Leopard

Lexmark got back to me...they have no plans to release new drivers for my printer. Anyone know what this error is? At this point, I'm dead in the water. ------------------------------------------------------ /usr/libexec/cups/backend/usb failed Missing USB class driver...

"Secure Empty Trash" Appears Twice in Leopard

Nevermind. :) I fixed it. I didn't choose Finder earlier from the popup list when I attempted to re-add the keyboard shortcut. When I chose Finder this time, re-added the shortcut, then deleted it, the extra "Secure Empty Trash" menu item went away.

"Secure Empty Trash" Appears Twice in Leopard

Prior to installing Leopard, I had set up a keyboard shortcut in System Preferences for "Secure Empty Trash". That menu item still appears for the Finder, however, there is a new one now that I am running Leopard, and the old menu item causes a trash empty to fail. Here is what I see (I have...

    Printer problems with Leopard

I removed the drivers for Lexmark (deleted Lexmark folder in /Library/Printers), and reinstalled using the Leopard DVD. Attempting to print does not crash the app I am using, but I do get the following error from the printer status utility...

    Printer problems with Leopard

I will try that. Thanks. Do you know if the Lexmark folder in /Library/Printers is the one that the original Lexmark software would have created, or is that folder already there by default after the Leopard install? In other words, is that folder the one that Apple provides, and will deleting...

    Printer problems with Leopard

If I go back into the Print & Fax preference panel, and remove the Lexmark printer, I can print to PDF and use the "Preview" (in Preview) feature. But I have to remove the printer in order to get this to work. Is there a way to completely remove the Lexmark software that I installed before...

    Printer problems with Leopard

Also, the same problem (crashing apps) happens when I attempt to print to a PDF. It's like printing is broken in general. I can print to PDF, and I can "Preview", if I click that button in the print dialog either.

    Printer problems with Leopard

I did exactly what you said. I disconnected the printer, went into the printers preference panel, removed the Lexmark printer, and then reconnected the printer. I powered it on, then off, then on again. Then, I added it via the preference panel, selecting "5400" from the list, as I did before. I...

    Printer problems with Leopard

I am having a similar problem with my Lexmark X5470 printer. Printer Setup Utility is gone, and this is causing all applications that attempt to print using this printer to immediately crash. I installed the latest driver, from 9/27/07, but it appears that it hasn't been updated for Leopard...

    LaCie FireWire drive failed...need help

I had a backup that was less 24-hours old, so I was OK. I ditched the drive and bought a new one. Had it shipped overnight from Other World Computing, so I could go on my trip. If you are going to get a new drive, here is what I recommend. I loved dealing with OWC, and the drive looks cool...

Apps for Synchronizing Folders on Two Macs

I usually do whatever Bob tells me, so I grabbed ChronoSync as soon as he recommended it. ...and then bought it (the trial only allows something like 500 files to be synced, and I wanted to test it on my Documents folder). It seems to work really well, and it's super-fast. I love the Containers...

"Erase Free Space" Problem & Questions (Disk Utility)

Last night, I ran an "Erase Free Space" operation on my Mac Pro. The drive is 500GB, so I ran it because I was mainly curious to see how long it would take to complete. I selected "Zero Out Data" as the security option, so that it wouldn't take forever, and let it run. After about two hours...

Apps for Synchronizing Folders on Two Macs

I have two Macs and need to have several folders on them kept in sync. How can I do this? I assumed that I would write a script for it, but, I'm thinking now that, if someone else has already written one, or if someone has written an application (free or commercial - doesn't matter), I'd be...

Need Good KVM Switch for Mac/Windows/Linux

Actually, the graphics card in the Linux box has DVI output as well (it has both DVI and VGA). I also have another DVI to VGA converter that I could use, now that I think about it (I bought one before I realized that the Mac Pro came with one). So... If I were to look at KVM switches, I should...

Need Good KVM Switch for Mac/Windows/Linux

I'm looking for a full Mac-compatible KVM switch. Here is the setup that I have: 1. Mac Pro with DVI video out (using a DVI to VGA converter to connect my 21" Dell monitor to it, for now) 2. Linux PC with VGA out I have tried Belkin's Flip (USB model) (http://www.belkin.com/flip/), and...
