Mac Laptop - American Voltage compatibility with UK

Interestingly, every Mac ever made has been built to run on any voltage between 100 and 240 volts, with mains frequency between 50 and 60 hz. I found out early on that the SE30 could be plugged into the razor outlet in the sleeping compartments of swedish trains... drove my PC friends crazy... :D

Munix hacked? Valid files for install of Leopard?

Oh for the love of everything holy or not, close and remove this thread already! As I said early on, these people are either trolls or have serious psychiatric issues, it is not Mac-related. Let's put this to rest now.

    MobileMe

Go into System Settings and click the .Mac settings. This will trigger Software Update, and you'll get the MobileMe update. It isn't being pushed out to those who don't have an account, and Software Update doesn't know that you have one.

Can I use an external iSight with Intel chip iMac?

If you attach an external iSight camera, you can choose which camera to use in each application, as long as one of them isn't relying on the same input chooser (they can't both be using QuickTime for instance). I tested this just now to be sure: external iSight for Flash video chat and...

    Firefox + Safari Flash Crashing

You could also install Safari Stand. That'll let you turn off Flash for every site, and then turn it back on for the sites where you need it to work. Can save a lot of battery time on a laptop since many Flash movies are poorly coded and makes the CPU work needlessly hard. It's free...

    can't send emails in entourage

I googled "entourage error-17982" (without the quotes), and the most common answer seems to be to disable TSL/SSL in the settings for your account.

What apps can edit a .pdf file like a text document?

Then you no longer have text in your pdf. You have an image. It may contain something that looks like text, but you can't copy it and paste it into, say, a text field in a form on a web page. You can't edit it and change the font or spelling either. There are a lot of applications that will...

    ip address spoofing

Well, you can always use TOR, "The Onion Router". It's an application that will automatically rout your traffic in random paths through a network of other onion routers, encrypting the traffic between them. This makes it VERY difficult to trace anything back to you, if indeed it's at all...

It's not supposed to be two folders called "Application" and "Support" respectively, but one folder called "Application Support"...

Munix hacked? Valid files for install of Leopard?

I recommend that a moderator steps in and closes this thread now. We are either dealing with trolls here, or mentally unstable people. In either case, nothing we say or do is going to settle this.

Does Time Machine work with Ext. Drives other than Time Capsule?

Actually, if you have an Airport Extreme Base Station with the latest firmware update, you can attach a drive to it and Time Machine will happily use that to backup to. I know you had to use a couple o tricks to get that to work earlier, but the firmware update in mid-March fixed that.

Munix hacked? Valid files for install of Leopard?

First of all: I can't see anything that even remotely resembles a root kit or any other type of foul play in any of these logs. Second: if you don't know what to look for, don't look. Seriously. If you want to learn, then by all means look, and then google every log entry you don't understand...

lightning -now can't connect to internet

Try connecting you eMac to your laptop via Firewire, and share the internet connection from the laptop. It requires the laptop to be on if you want to surf on the eMac, but it'll work. Don't worry about configuring the network over Firewire, your Mac's will handle it automagically.

    FTP Sharing.. big security problem

The reason you get access to everything is that you connect as an administrator user. They have access to everything. If you connect as guest you only get access to the shared folder. If you want more fine tuned access, you'll have to dig deeper into the configurations of the built-in ftp...

    Safari 3.11 says no

Another solution is to download and install "Webkit". It's the latest version of Safari, newer than the one you can get from Software Update even. You'll find it here: http://webkit.org/

    Lexmark Printer Problems with Leopard

Probably a problem with the Office applications. Especially if you're talking about Office 2008, I had the same problem until I updated them to 12.1. It's always a good idea to specify exactly what applications you're talking about, it makes it a lot easier to pinpoint the exact problem to...

External iSight not working with leopard.

The drivers are included in the OS, it's more likely that your iSight is broken, or that you have a problem with the FireWire port, either on the camera side or in the computer. You could also try another cable. I run Leopard myself, on both Intel and PPC Mac's, and my external iSight works well...

    Broadband Heaven or Hell?

You can't judge your bandwidth from a server abroad. I suspect that most of you don't live in Britain, so the BBC server isn't for you. If you want to know your true bandwidth from your home to the backbone, you'll have to connect to a server on your home countrys backbone.

Today I received a Software support question to my private email when I am not even a software tech volunteer here. His email (by the long headers) came straight from him to me. He seems legit but I am wondering how he used my email address when I don't publish it in this site or in my CP...
