Brian, Thanks for the reply. What I find most annoying is that restarting X11 is not enough and I usually have to reboot my machine! Logging out is not even enough. If I simply restart X11, it will fail immediately just as it was doing before quitting. Horrible pain in the ass...

A recurring and annoying problem for me is changing network connections with X11. While other applications handle this gracefully, X11 gets very unhappy for me. I would understand that I have to close windows, perhaps even relaunch the application, given that I have a new IP address...

Folks I have used X11 daily since it came on the scene and recently have a problem with launching applications. Each time I try and launch a new Eterm window, the window appears briefly and then disappears. All other existing X11 windows are fine but I cannot launch a new terminal session...
