    I'm over it. Are you?

I was over it from day 1. IBM clearly dropped the ball - 2 years after the 3GHz forecast and still no end in sight. What bummed me out was that this news took up almost the complete keynote (made up for by the aside that it'll be possible to add labelled chapter markers to podcasts). I wanted...

Chapter markers for audio files in iTunes

One thing Steve pointed out in the keynote was a podcast that had chapter markers, with each chapter having it's own clipart. Anyone know how these chapter markers were created? i.e. Was it done directly from iTunes? (and more importantly, will these chapter markers be available on an iPod?) Kap

    *WWDC 2005 Thread*

Ok, I'm going to be the first to say it: Is that it? ::sleepy:: Sure, the big story is the move to Intel (and I'm happy about the move), but that news took up the whole keynote. No new developments for iPods, software, tablet macs, music store, etc.. Nothing. Usually, after a...

    "It Never Crashes" it does...

I think this statement's a sad reflection on how the computer industry managed to hoodwink the average consumer. If consumers had demanded quality (i.e. took back their computers, or at least refused to get new ones) when they crashed, the industry would be forced to churn out stuff slower...

    Predictions for WWDC

Had a few insights about this rumoured tablet - if it's small/portable enough it could trump both the iPod photo and video iPod. Photos could be synced directly to an iPhoto library Obviously with Quicktime (and whatever other players you'd want), it'd handle lots of video formats An EyeTV...

My wishlist for a tablet Mac

I'd prefer the thumbboard actually built into the sides of the tablet, but the rumors currently around seem to be putting the kibosh on that already (i.e. I'm partly conforming my hopes to the most probable reality, so as not to be too crushed ;) - I'd also prefer more than 4GB of storage)...

    Predictions for WWDC

With WWDC just over a week away, I thought I'd kick up another prediction thread. :D What I think SJ will spring on us, in descending order of likelihood: iTunes 4.9 demo of podcasting support, plus a few podcasting plugs Australian iTunes music store 5G iPod, with iPod mini casing, a color...

    Apple to switch?????

There's a rumour on Engadget that Apple's coming out with their own tablet, which would use Intel chips. This makes the Intel thing ring true to me (somewhat). i.e. Apple and Intel are getting together on a lower performace (hopefully very cool) product and leaving PowerMacs with the IBM chips...

    iPod vs Mobile/Cell Phones

Which I don't really understand at all. For such a phone to make any sense, to my way of thinking, it would have to have a hard drive (or at least 1 Gb of flash memory) and a thumb board (for iTunes searching, which is half the power of iTunes in the first place). I haven't heard anything to...

    iPod vs Mobile/Cell Phones

I partly agree with what Gates says and I partly think he's full of crap. On the one hand, it seems that phones are eventually going to replace iPods/mp3 players because of the convenience factor of having an "all-in-one" device. On the other hand: There are a number of situations in which I...

Which language seems to be the best to learn?

Javascript (<don't mind me as I hack out my own tongue - if you told me 5 years ago that I'd be recommending learning Javascript...>). Why? - it's apparently the language that Dashboard widgets are written in and if OS X needs anything, it needs a lot of great widgets. Kap

What are Apple's top 5 current biggest mistakes?

The thing I don't understand is why doesn't Apple just create a multi-button mouse/trackball as an optional accessory? (the same way Kensington, Logitech, etc. have done for years). They must be aware that there is a large group of users (i.e. a market) who want a multi-button mouse (and would...

What are Apple's top 5 current biggest mistakes?

IMHO, these are: iPod photo i.e. Not releasing an iPod video (or Newton II) from the get go. Crippling the audio recording on the iPod. Only having a "fast forward in 6 second increments" option on the iPod shuffle (i.e. it should have been more like a minute or two). Not adding more...

Seriously considering an excursion into the Dark Side

Engadget has comparison photos of the HP iPaq hw6500 vs the Treo 650: http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000943042653/ Based on my fiddling with the snap on thumb board from the previous version of the iPaq, it is very nice (Treo 650 is ok, but cramped). Even though the hw6500 runs Windows...

    How would you rate Tiger?

After playing with Tiger in stores, I basically agree with what I've read on this forum and elsewhere - Tiger is brilliant, but I probably won't bother upgrading my Powerbook because Panther is already doing a great job for me. I simply don't have much use for the few big things in Tiger such...

is the Rev B iMac what you had hoped for?

Definitely a near perfect consumer machine. Only changes I would make: 23" version Make the "chin" a bit smaller Two button (or more) Apple mouse :) A black case would also be very nice. Maybe it's possible to have an iMac colorised like the iPods? Don't know how much that would cost, if...
