Anyone Buying M1 MacBook Pro, Air, or Mini?

We use CCC, and the clone is not bootable. If you erase and reinstall Big Sur on it, as recommended by Apple, you will see it as an option, but you cannot boot from it. If you then use CCC to clone yourself over it – since you cannot boot from it and use Migration Assistant – it will show up as...

Anyone Buying M1 MacBook Pro, Air, or Mini?

I thought there was a 16" available. Either way it is a bit "too big" for my needs. Will say, aside from the connection issues – buy those doggles!!11!! – the battery life is phenomenal, it is obviously must faster than my Ancient Mac was, even with notorious bloatware like Adobe. Just...

    Official: Big Sur (11.x) Issues

"Forced" to use it after my Ancient MacBook suddenly died and replacement is needed, I am rather pleased with it. The only "complaint," which is more about the M1 chip methinks, is finding an external HD that it will recognize that will make a bootable clone. – J.D.

Mac Pro 3,1 Random Shutdown Problem

Thanks! I can "replace a part" if that will solve the problem or prevent something "bad" from happening. I am not sure what it would be other than the logic board since that is what the battery connect to. Replacements cost ~$300 which is less than a new computer of course! I am a little...

What Song Are You Playing Now?

So there was this British television show in the mid–2000s. A DCI gets hit by a car and wake up in the early seventies. The title? Of course, it is the song on his iPod which becomes a cassette tape when he wakes up: I like this version, all due respect to the Not-Yet Thin White Duke. There...

Mac Pro 3,1 Random Shutdown Problem

You may have the same problem I just developed. My Mac is as in my signature. Suddenly, the Mac turned off. I rebooted, it worked doing the normal surfing for underaged lichen porn . . . shut off. This was with the power cord connected. Would not turn on again! With the power cord connected...
