Dear fryke, I'm not too sure about OS X application optimized for dual core. One thing that's holding me back to get the new entry-level Dual Core G5. We should find answers for this. Mike6912, I would get the entry-level Dual Core and spend 30%-40% of my budget on RAM.

Have someone take a look at your situation in person.

I recommend getting a OWC version G4 upgrade processor instead, as I find them dependable and reliable.
