Reset fan control to 'as shipped' defaults on MBP

I have recently upgraded to Leopard, plus had some warranty work done on my machine. After the work I noticed the MBP ran significantly cooler :-) I have SMCFanControl, an application that really helps keep the machine cool but I've noticed recently my battery life is not so good. So, I...

    System won't shutdown - Leopard

I noticed it crashed again last night after I de-installed doublecommand Backtrace continues... Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.baltaks.driver.DoubleCommand(1.6.2)@0x51424000->0x51428fff dependency...

    System won't shutdown - Leopard

Thank you for that. I was just going around all those individual user applications upgrading them and this was one I couldn't remember where i'd gotten it from. Thank you.

    Customizing guest login

Whenever I try to customize my guest login's dock it just goes back to the default when I logout and log back in again. Is there anyway to customize the guest login dock and have it stick?

    Screensaver lock in Leopard

This is probably really dumb, but I notice under Leopard my screen saver now locks me out and I have to re-enter my password to get back in. This is obviously for security, but on the occasion I don't want my screen to 'lock', how can I stop it requesting a password to get back in?

    System won't shutdown - Leopard

Well this is very weird and now fixed. Last night it was late when I gave up so I told the MBP to shutdown. When it looked like it was down I shut the lid. Historically even though it looked like it shutdown I couldn't get it to restart without removing the battery or hitting the power button...

    System won't shutdown - Leopard

ok, that's strange I don't have any USB devices connected to it. In fact most of the time it's just sitting with nothing connected, not even a network cable.

    System won't shutdown - Leopard

Great night this is for trouble-shooting. I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and now when the machine shuts down or reboots... it doesn't. It just hangs with a black screen as though it's shut down but it won't restart unless I pull the battery out. When it reboots it complains of...

Connect to Windows PCs via name from Leopard

Well the good news is I've found one solution to one part of the problem. The first issue I was having is that under System Preferences/Network/WINS I couldn't get the Workgroup name to stick. I found that if I deleted the entire network, in this case "aircard" and recreated it, I could...

Connect to Windows PCs via name from Leopard

I just upgraded my MBP to Leopard and the first thing I noticed was I'm now unable to mount windows share's by their name. Before in finder I'd hit ctrl+k and then smb://machinename/share If I try that now it never resolves. If I use the IP it'll work but one of the things I read, and in...
