    Hi again. I'd like to power off a particular USB port (the one a particular external hard disk is connected to). Is there a command line program included with the OS that can do this? Or does anyone know of one I can get? Poking about, it's probably possible to write one with the IOKit...

    Checking if hard disk is powered off?

    Hi everyone. I have my Mac Mini set to power off hard disks after some time of inactivity. I think my external USB hard disk is not being powered off. Is there some way I can check this? Is there an equivalent of the hdparm utility in Linux? Thanks, Cameron
