Thanks for your response. I actually [I]did[I] try again with a slower burn speed and got a successful result. Also, I do a lot downloading and installing of new files, so I have started a new routine of fixing system preferences every other day. Just in case.

Since it isn't possible for me to reproduce the circumstances on another Mac, perhaps if I ran TechTool and executed some of its utilities, that would possibly fix the 'Mac' problem. The burner is only about 2 years old. I was hoping it wouldn't be the problem.

I have recently started having problems when burning mp3 and audio CDs. The files on the mp3 CDs aren't all recognized and the audio CDs have various playback difficulties. I use both Toast 6 or Dragon Burn. I have a 6 year old iMac G3 and the burner is an external LaCie. I am running Tiger...
