Great--it just fixed itself. Of course I have NO idea what changed. damn.

Can anyone suggest a fix for this system volume situation? I'd sure appreciate it!

System volume is shutting itself down. Literally I can turn it up and it begins tuning itself down until "muted"????? The "speaker icon" and row of dots representing the volume setting remain visible --but transparent-- on the screen and won't go away.
