Opening multiple copies of same App??

Mikuro, the first method works, I've used it also. I forgot about that. The second one doesn't seem to, and I've never come across it before.

Opening multiple copies of same App??

Generally one cannot open more than once instance of an application simultaneously; that might result in certain files (like preferences) becoming corrupt through being accessed by more than one process at a time. However, usually each individual application will allow one to run multiple...

Cloning OSX to new drive using Prosoft Data Backup?

You'll probably have better luck with Carbon Copy Cloner, which is specifically for this purpose.

    high res or low res?

Only the very last revision of the Powerbook G4 had the higher resolution screen. If your computer is slower than 1.67GHz, then it has the lower resolution display. Otherwise you can tell by going to the Display panel in System Preferences and checking whether the highest resolution available is...

What is this "You need to restart your computer" message?

It's known as a Kernel Panic, you can find more information on it here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106227

    Music Composition software/freeware?

The two best options for OS X are Sibelius (http://www.sibelius.com/) and Finale (http://www.codamusic.com/) Unfortunately both are not cheap; although Finale Notepad is free, the feature set is severely limited, I don't remember if it takes MIDI input or not. Speaking of...I'm not sure how much...

    Strange VBulletin quark???

I noticed that this afternoon also on another thread (http://macosx.com/forums/mac-os-x-system-mac-software/290577-minimac-duo-painfully-slow-print.html) I just assumed it was an updated version of the 'printable thread' feature, but now I see that there's no option for any other view. Strange.

Unfortunately that's still not possible with OS X. Here is an overview of what is (at the moment) http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050521110452194&lsrc=osxh

    problem with partitioned harddrive

You simply unmounted the volume, no damage done. EIther restart the computer, or open Utilities -> Disk Utility, select the disk you dragged to the trash, and click the Mount button in the toolbar. For future reference though, this is not the right place to be asking questions. Please try to...

    Mac iBook version 2.2

That would depend on your definition of 'expensive.' A quick look on eBay shows some buy-it-nows of ~$65, and eBay is known for scalping on such items. I recall that these cards were far more than that when new, so to me it seems like rather a good deal. That's me though :)

tiger running SO SLOW on G4 powebook

I think we're talking about two different things here then. I meant, and I assume the original poster is indicating this also, the 'VM Size' number from the Activity Viewer application, which as I understand it is the total amount of RAM that in theory could be requested by all currently running...

annoyances i hope are easy to workaround!

Hmmm...that amount ought to be far more than sufficient. OS X tends to scale its use to whatever is available, but 15MB free is still far too little. Do a restart and then keep an eye on the amount of free RAM. If it gets down that low, use Activity Viewer to sort all processes by RAM usage and...

tiger running SO SLOW on G4 powebook

You'll want to completely clean the hard drive before you install, yes. Including a reformat. The 'unix-y' files are probably the source of your problems, and any that are necessary will be automatically recreated. Don't worry about them. You should be able to copy over your entire user folder...
