Adobe Illustrator 10: slow under OSX 10.1.3

It's a shifted-eyedropper... made more sense than to have a seperate tool for each, IMHO. I -am- glad that the colorspace is consistent through the whole document.

Adobe Illustrator 10: slow under OSX 10.1.3

There have been increasing performance issues since version 8, which was the last 'liteweight' build before we had all this crap added to it. Don't get me wrong... a lot of the crap is good... but Adobe needs to learn the definition of 'feature freeze' and just work on figuring out two things...

    if theed ran Apple

Hehe... sorry; just being a jackass :) ANYWAYS. A few points- IDE is on a controller by controller basis. Each controller has two chains or channels. Raid 5 is TOTALLY dependent upon the performance of the controller. This would eat up SERIOUS time done in software. Perhaps an on-board...

    DVD Ripping in OS X?

Really, the easiest way to copy a dvd is to use a DV camcorder and then compressing the captured video to DivX (this is what I assume you're talking about) with quicktime or what hve you.... then again... I've never had the need to pira... i mean copy... a dvd... On a side note... the new DVD...

    sendmail problem

there are entire books on sendmail, and it's one of the most exploited program's in Unix's history. Improperly configuring it can be an ENORMOUS headache for an administrator (especially dealing with the voluminous e-mails of those who get spammed if you accidentally leave an open gateway up)...

    iPod PDA

I only hope Apple jumps into the fray because they do very minimal and usable things very very well. I have yet to get a PDA because nobody's gone past the possibilities of pencil and paper for notekeeping to justify the massive cost. The reasonably priced ones barely have any memory, and the...

    Cooling a PowerPC G4 Tower?

Just in case- are you leaving the case open? Leaving the case open isn't a good solution- the towers are designed to maintain a constant airflow in a specific pattern to cool the whole system optimally (not that mac's generate a -ton- of heat). So keep the case closed for starters. Other...

Hidden pair of scissors in the dock!

I've always likened gah to an aggressive ugh... implicating frustration to the point of anger, with a hint of resignation or abandon. While ack! can also be compared to it, ack! often is used for a discovery or some kind of surprise, whereas ugh and the eventual gah are presented to portray...

    Multimedia Authoring in OS X

Director MX is supposed to be released very soon, along with Flash MX. Macromedia needs to get it's UI act together, because Adobe is steamrolling out applications now and has it's game ON. With ridiculous product integration and very extensible bases, Adobe could drop a Shockwave/Flash...

Howto- use OSX's quartz layer as your RIP

Nearly a year ago I got my whole Design/Multimedia setup. It included an HP Deskjet 1220C/PS printer... $100 more than the 1220C model, because it boasted 'Postscript3 capabilities'. These came in the form of Adobe Pressready Basics, a software based PS3-> PCL (HP's printer control language)...

Be joins the "Sue Microsoft" club

BeOS is effectively dead. The only reason they're doing this is because the firm is working on a contingency basis, otherwise Palm doesn't have the money for them to be whipping their junk out. Too little too late.

    The lyrics thread!

Oh rose, thou art sick. Seduce, let loose, the vision and the void. Blood suckle and honey suck. Oh rose, thou art sick. Oh- the vision and the void. The blood sickle cuts the honey suck. Oh, rose, thou art. sick. In little children's heavy heads. My dreams erupt while in my...

    web design

Design is the ninja art. It's about subtlety, and when done well is only noticed when you look for it. It's a camoflouged crossing gaurd, guiding people through a piece to information they're looking for. Being a design student presently- I've been trying to cope with all the BS that I...
