Ok, final thought. I think it had to do with the fact that when I charge my iPod, I sometimes forget to turn off the hold switch. Doesn't seem to be a software issue, or case issue or anything else I can think of. It's been working fine for a while now. Thanks for all the interest. :)

Actually, my friend is in St. Louis Missouri. And the problem with taking it around to different places are 1) there aren't may of them. 2) it costs to have someone look at it.

Everything was backed up so we were all good. That and I could start in target disk mode for some reason. Plus why spend money on a hard drive when you can put it twards a new mac. :) I returned my external hard drive and put the money twards a new iMac. Much nicer. ;)

It was a major hard drive issue. I had to buy a new one and install it. Quite easy and now everything is great!

Here is the latest update. I got the hard drives to show up in target disk mode so I backed everything up I could. I then restarted the laptop via the Tiger install disk and it didn't mount any hard drives. I ran disk first aid and everything was fine (or so it said) but I can't even...

Today I kept the volume below 1/2 and let it run until it died. It lasted until 12:15pm. Started about 7:30am. So I got around 4.5 hours out of the battery. This is MUCH less than I had just a few weeks ago. Is there any tech tools for iPods? How long is the warranty? Thanks
