    Herve's Bar & Grill

For basil, AFAIK plenty of sunlight. At work we have a big and very healthy basil plant. It sits by the window.

    Funny Mac sighting

Yesterday I am waiting for a friend on the sidewalk in Manhattan and see an older woman pushing a stroller with two little kids walking on either side of her, a baby in a sort of sling around her neck, and a G3 iMac in the stroller. Hah.

    Herve's Bar & Grill

IMO the only way to really learn a language is to live in a country that speaks it. It also doesn't hurt to have studied Linguistics. :) After less than a year and a half in Brazil, Brazilians tell me I speak Portuguese like a native and with no accent.

    Herve's Bar & Grill

No. I'm way out of college, in years and also mindset. I was around Bourbon St. a few times, but for me it got old quickly. When I travel I like to meet locals and hang with them to see how people live. I did and had a blast. Truly awesome town. Interesting comparing it to NYC, where I...

I ate a good amount of oysters over the past week. Spent the past week in New Orleans. I love that town.

    Totally disabling Sticky Keys?

karavite: I totally understand what you're saying, and for the most part agree. But, apparently at least for me hitting shift five times in a row happens more often than you'd think. It comes out when I have to enter the password to unlock the machine. Sometimes I put in my password over and...

    Totally disabling Sticky Keys?

Ah, but here's the problem. I like being able to use the keyboard for stuff around the OS, like dialog boxes.

    Totally disabling Sticky Keys?

Thanks for the replies, but that's not my problem. If you hit Shift five times it will turn it on. I want it so nothing can enable it.

    Totally disabling Sticky Keys?

Sometimes, I guess from having hit Shift a bunch of times, Sticky Keys gets enabled and things get weird. Anyone know if there's a way to totally disable it, even if you hit Shift five times? Thanks.

Cool, thanks for the explanation. I guess I can see the usefullness of it, but not sure I would use it. Thank goodness for the customizeable toolbars in OS X.

    My bet with my friend

Well I do think about Microsoft in this because I think Apple stopping making personal computers would give Microsoft a monopoly. Linux is not a viable alternative. I think Mac OS is it.

Tip: Drag and Drop text in Terminal

Yes. And if you drag a file or folder into a terminal window it will print the full path to it where the cursor is. And you can drag highlighted text outside of the terminal windows into other things, like a URL into your browser, into a text clipping on the desktop, etc. Very handy.

    My bet with my friend

So I have a bet going with a friend of mine, as of a few days ago. He thinks that within five years Apple will not be making personal computers anymore. He thinks all their revenue is from the iPod and music and such. I think Apple will be making personal computers in five years. So there's...

    Command+tab more intelligent?

I believe that Windows will sort them from the last one used, but all of them. Very handy. And I personally like more control over indivdual windows. If you want all of an app's windows in front, then click the app's Dock icon.

    Command+tab more intelligent?

I know that Command+tab has that new graphic thing, but is the ordering of it more intelligent than in 10.2? That's one thing that Windows does a lot better.
