To augment howardm4's suggestion... David P. Alverson's ZTerm 1.1b6 has worked for me. He has 2 versions. One for OS X in Carbon using BSD/Posix API's to control the serial ports and one for "PowerPC" also in Carbon but using Device Manager calls for the serial ports. So you would need both...
