I'm thinking about buying a set of extra HD's (74 GB Raptor's) and put those via a special bracket in a G5 and use them as a (Apple, software) RAID 1 'striped' to boot from. The 'old' HD I'd like to keep using 'on the side'. Has anyone done this, and if so, did it work smoothly? Regards, snipper

The link you gave to the 'scare frost screen' clearly displays a kernel panic ? that's something else: in this case just the screen freezes, not the cpu. The discussions forum of Apple is quite big, which story to you mean?

I say: restart from your 10.2 cdrom and repair priviliges, restart again from cdrom and check disk in the First Aid app. Then restart and try again.
