Ok, the make appletalk active box was checked already.......the printer is plugged into a Netgear router hub that another printer and internet is plugged into.......If I manually set the IP address will it affect the other printer? Where do I get the correct IP address...thanks for your help..

G5 Tower running OS 10.4.11.....printer is a HP 5000 witha jetdirect 600N ethernet card...I am hooking this up for the first time...loaded printer drivers from disk(from buddy with same machine) still won't work...do I need to load something for the card? Not a big computer guy...slow n easy...
