    Extra fonts in iDVD?

There's a whole bunch of fonts within the iDVD package some are System standards then there's a couple of others. If you want to see them right/Control click on the app select "Show package contents" and you'll find a Fonts folder within iDVD/Contents/Resources/ . You might try copying these...

    Colours for print????

Hi bez, and congratulations on your new job! You can use the colour picker in Photoshop to create a matching swatch in QuarkXPress (needs a note pad and pen!) - at least back in the stone age of QXP 4. InDesign v2 + can take a reading directly from a placed image and perhaps so too can QXP 6...

    Tiger .Mac Sync (Part 2!)

There is a highly rated shareware app available called "Sync Entourage-Address Book" that may well be what you need. Check it out at versiontraker.com. I downloaded it a while back but still haven't gotten round to trying it out. Let me know what you think if you try it... Gabriel

    Display delay?

I just read yesterday that the problem is not with the monitors themselves but with a lack of the custom graphics chip needed to run them - the NVidia GeForce 6800 - which are in very short supply and aparently "everybody" wants one.... Chips - best with curry sauce.

rm -rf returns "tcsh: rm: No match"

[Gabs hides in the corner - whimpering at his careless reading of the original post. Bloody eedjit.] Nice pipe.

rm -rf returns "tcsh: rm: No match"

[Only time I've seen rm -rf was with sudo at the begining and a slash after - as "funny joke".] Try the command without the f flag and unless you've got some strange permissions you shouldn't have any problems. Gabs

    iDVD VCD?

AFAIK, VCD is not interactive, so you would be wasting time creating a DVD structure. I do know that Toast Titanium used to install a plugin to allow direct VCD export from iMovie (and from a QuickTime movies too I think)... Hope this helps, Gabriel

    Photoshop question

Hi Nat' - you made me look again and I'll be... My memory of Illustrator's Path tool is a bit off track. I remembered that the modifier keys had very little impact on the way the tool worked. Not so when creating a new path - but there is a big difference to me in that once a closed path is...

    Photoshop question

Bang on cockneygeezer - but I'll have to chip in and say that you'll always get a much better clipping path if you create it by hand. It takes a wee while to get used to the Pen Tool - and may take more time to manually create a path - but its well worth it in most circumstances. [The pen tool...

    Illustrator Multi-page PDF Export

A couple of months ago there was a doc on the Adobe Illustrator support pages (http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/3383e.htm) I havn't read it again and think it has been superceeded by the page "333b6" mentioned above - but it might be relevent.... If you can save a PostScript file from...

Font Management OS X - Please help...

Try FontDoctor - it comes with Suicase X1. It's not magic and can't create a PostScript outline from a bitmap - and it can do funny things with the locations of your fonts if you're not careful - but it is very thorough. It's been around for many years - the curent incarnation much better than...

    Vote for a Mac user!!!

Mac or no Mac... - if I lived in one of the other 51 US states (only jokin) - <rant>My anti Bush feeling is mild compared to my rage against Tony Blair. Bush was always obviously a total asshole - and seemingly proud of it. I felt betrayed by Blair - a man seemingly absolutely corrupted by...

    basic video compression

FinalCut Pro is a fairly hefty broadcast capable app. You'd get best results from the raw footage - hopefully DV - rather than anything else that may have been encoded twice already - which you'll then encode again to get into a QuickTime format... Otherwise your in the classic "sh*t in, sh*t...

is it okay or not to open files on network?

Do it if you're going to take advantage of a single place for all your files - you can facilitate group activities, make backing up simpler, allow hot desking etc. <rant>File sharing on Mac OS X is good (AppleTalk was chatty). Your minimum network should be (100 Base T Ethernet and [router...

[FAQ] - Importing an iBook or a Powerbook or an iPod from USA

When I had ebay purchases from outside the EU sent to me in the UK I was charged VAT and Import Duty (and sometimes handling fees) by the carrier (Royal Mail/TNT/DHL). Of course there would be a work around if the value is not declared and the item is not insured. But then you are dealing with...

    Goudy Font not previewing

There you go. Thanks for setting me straight. The cache issue had fallen off my radar. I've used DeepSix in the past to clear out AdobeFnt files - another set of font caches to look out for. I still suffer from SuitcaseX1 having trouble with font previews on a fairly regular basis - but the...

    Goudy Font not previewing

Mmm, just rooting around and I have been reminded that the copy of Goudy Old Style I have on my system came from the Microsoft Office suite, as opposed to the Adobe versions of Goudy (incl _Sans _Heavyface _Handtooled). Is there a chance your users have a conflict between the PostScript (I...
