    Not So Slow OS X

Maybe this was just me, but my TruBlue priority was already set at 0. So was Classic.... weird. Oh well. Mayeb that's why my computer doesn't seem to need a reboot unless I'm rebooting it remotely to freak out my roomate :) F-bacher

    Objective C Tutorial?

Oh, i;ve made several coca apps using java... but it is so much slower than any C program and is definitly a memory hog. For what I want to do, JAVA isn't the best option. F-bacher

Software and Games for Mac OS X

Although CaveDog is dieing (from what i've heard, if not already dead), I still love TA. It works fine under classics, except that the cntrl key isn't functional (so u can't click on the map and move to that location instantly) and the mouse arrow looks all funky. Way to go emulation... if...

    Don't use telnet!

I'll write it as soon as someone teaches me some perl and objective C. I've got the motivation, but where are the easy as pie tutorials (atleast for Obj C). I learned java pretty easily, but where is the step by step walkthrough for Obj C? If the language is taught, and it is easy to learn...

Can unix commands be called from a C program?

I don't know about C (but I'm guessing yes), but you could always write a perl script to do stuff like that... but I only watch perl gods preform their magic; I only know a little perl myself. F-bacher

Does anyone know if there is a good objective C tutorial anywhere online? The documentation at apple isn't much of a walkthrough - I was looking more for something along the lines of a step-by-step builing of how Objective C syntax works. Aka: With extensive and complete sample code ->...

    changing priorities

Why not just sign up for an idisk account and put it up there? You get plenty of space for small transfers and just put it in your public folder. If you really need someplace to put it up, email it to me at fahrenba@uiuc.edu and I'll put it up on my site. To get a command line program...

    Cloning OSX Machines

Well, I'm really close now. I wrote I nice little perl script (actually some guys I work with who know a heck of a lot mroe perl than me did, but I typed it :)) that would read a file that listed all the symbolic link files, open the broken symbolic link files and copy out the correct directory...

    PowerBook 5300cs

I don't think you can fit OSX Beta in that small of a harddrive - I think the min is 800MB (although atleast 3 gigs is probably perferable). Also, OSX PB would be really REALLY slow with only 32 MB of ram. It's slow enough with mine only having 64. The requirements may go down in the final...

    Cloning OSX Machines

My all powerful boss wipped out his admin book and used: "/sbin/mount -o rw /" to get write access. Now, i have the fun job of fixing not only the first 4 broken symbolic link files, but also the 446 other symboli clink files! (I searched by type under OS9). This is going to be a pain in the...
