OSX was always ready for Intel?

Yea, but Cocoa apps will immediately benefit. Even if they are huge projects, all the other frameworks in mac os x are cross platform as well. For instance, a developer could hard code Altivec instructions into their app, and yea ur right, this code will be pretty hard to port over. If one...

OSX was always ready for Intel?

As Steve Jobs said, and this is true, just a few minor tweaks and the universal app is good to go. all it takes is setting a path to the cross development API to the Universal Binary Software Development Kit, then the checkboxs; Intel and PowerPC and that's it.

Mac mini the first to go Intel?

i hope that is true, a cheap small widescreen apple portable would be killer. It might be, ThinkSecret is usually right...?

    The Revival of Yellow Box?

I'm thinking it's very easy to port apps to intel/powepc. Once written for Intel, im sure the apps could run on some existing cocoa framework. Afterall, not only is it processor independent, but kernel independent too of somesort. Steve Jobs spend a good amount of time making sure the cocoa...

    The Revival of Yellow Box?

I thought openstep apps ran on any OS natively? Afterall, NeXT had openstep/cocoa running on solaris, windows nt, and mac os. Anybody remember openstep enterprise? I may be wrong i just thought that cocoa/openstep apps could run on top of any reasonably powerful operating system, natively...

    Good Bye eMac?

could apple get cheaper 17" crts somewhere else? possibly. i thought if he meant there were any advancements with the display itself, which there isn't. Sure, they might be able to get it cheaper, but they also save a little bit of money if they sell it to education only. some sort of tax cut...

    That's an Apple girl...

yea i couldnt cope with the distance either, but it would be really cool just knowing one girl in the world who uses a mac, even if she lives 2000 miles apart, it would just be cool. Pic.....? BTW, tera patrick is hot. Those girls running the mac360.com site arent bad either, i like them...

    Good Bye eMac?

I agree with the cheese, the emacs have the most brilliant color displays, and for someone on a limited budget like me, the emac was the way to go(before the mac mini was released). Not to mention CRTs have much higher refresh rates than lcds. On muh emac, you dont get that "ghost effect" when...

    That's an Apple girl...

Tera Patrick, that is funny, i knew of the pornstar before i knew of that girl. But wow, girls running a mac site! I guess hell has froze over. Either that or i just need to come out of the closet more. I've never seen a mac girl before(except for chevy's daughter)...zainab.juma, can we see...

    ResEdit equivalent for OS X?

If you want to mess around with the interface of applications and change it around, i would recommend Apple's Interface Builder, much better than resedit in hacking cocoa applications.

xBox 360 PPC vs PowerMac PPC

It doesn't surprise me that the PS3 is about twice as fast as the 360. IMO the "SPE's" can almost be considered "velocity engines" or vector processing units that crunch data at a phenomenal rate just like the G4 and G5's velocity engines do. I mean I remember years and years ago when...

xBox 360 PPC vs PowerMac PPC

Okay, the xBox does not do graphic editing and story writing, but the things it does do, DVDs, Music, Games, HD, it should be a good value for anyone wanting to do just those things. Besides isn't Microsoft trying to place the xBox 360 as a "digital hub"? It's just that those are some of the...

xBox 360 PPC vs PowerMac PPC

I have 512 MB for muh eMac and it runs great. I'm sure later on the xbox will be able to upgrade the ram, like right now the xBox 360 has a removable hard drive. It's really not as specialized as you're making it out to be, it has just about all the same components our Macs have, and faster...

xBox 360 PPC vs PowerMac PPC

As already said, Cell is used in the PS3, and Sony made an announcement a while back that Mac OS X would be able to run on the Cell with little to no modification. I realize that the xBox 360 is targeted for gamers, but aside from that, the next xbox plays dvds, video, music, streaming, and...

xBox 360 PPC vs PowerMac PPC

How is it that the xBox 360 coming out tomorrow seems to have just as high performance, if not better performance than today's low/mid-range PowerMacs? I know that Microsoft is losing money on the consoles and wants to make up for it with game sales, but geez $299-$399 for a triple-core PowerPC...

    [HOWTO] Enable Hidden Dashboard Features

thanks, i thought these "hidden" features would be useful for somebody, thanks for replying. Have you tried the Command-R combination? It makes the widget do a funky "swirl" animation when they reload. Long live dashboard ;)

very nice, she is very cute. i guess if i had a daughter i wouldnt want to be posting recent pics of her either ::love::  , but recent enough. now if we can only switch every girl we know to mac os x, the world would be a much better place. ;) I see your other daughter is wearing...
