Printer recommendations for Mac OS X

Bob, What you're saying is I should just go ahead and pretty much do the same thing I'm doing with the old printer. I see the point and that's probably what I'll do, but I'd honestly rather have it connect directly to the computer.

    Apple´s future

I used to be part of the group that would make fun of users. However, as I got older, I also became more of a moralist (stopped pirating software for instance). The more I saw people make fun of the Mac, the more I wanted to switch out of spite. I just felt that I would rather be part of a group...

Printer recommendations for Mac OS X

With 128 megs ram, the ibook was sort of a pain. With 384 megs ram, it's beautiful. 256 should be ok I suppose. I like the computer personally but it's the programs like iTunes and the long-lasting battery that made me love it. Put Linux or Windows on this thing and it wouldn't be so nice.

Printer recommendations for Mac OS X

I have a Samsung ML-4500 laser printer that I like a lot, but it'll be gone with my PC tomorrow in the sale. I'd like to buy another Samsung since I'm very satisfied, but apparently even the new models don't come with the USB cable allowing it to work in OS X (I can plug it through my router but...

    Apple´s future

Absolutely true. Most technicians will simply look at a Mac, say that they can't fix it, and then make fun of the Mac user from plain ignorance. Here's the thing I'm worried about. How do you assure hardware that is, in every sense of the word, a piece of scrap? I used to sell the hardware...

    don't "switch"

The thing about rewriting the OS completely, I completely agree with you and think it is a valid reason why the programs would not function directly in the OS as they used to (obviously). I can't really say anything that opposes what you just said but simply bring up a question of sorts: Was...

    don't "switch"

I've made it mission never to claim that I know something with 100% certainty, but it's my belief that hardware makers, especially in the case of Windows, should make their hardware compatibled with IT and not Windows with the hardware. Unlike Linux distrois and Apple, Microsoft does not lose...

    don't "switch"

As much as I like the Mac, I have to say that I feel the hatred toward Microsoft is somewhat unwarranted. While I think Chimera is a much cooler browser than IE, I still think that there's nothing better than Microsoft Office X, I think MSN Messenger is quite good and I even enjoy Windows Media...

I have to admit that koim makes a good point.

Can Some One Tell Me About Ram and OS X

I originally worked with 128 MB Ram and it was actually ok but multitasking was a pain. I added 256 (only because 512 is way too expensive) and frankly, the OS runs beautifully now. I can't imagine why 512 would be necessary unless you're using all programs at the same time (I used iTunes...

    Why iTunes kicks ass

I recently switched to the Mac completely and brought over all of my MP3's. The first thing I didn't like, probably because I didn't expect it, is how iTunes copied the MP3's into a different file name and placed each song in its own folder and everything. On top of it all, it made the folders...

    Internet Explorer Toolbar

Despite buying an iBook French version, I use the OS in English. As a result, the translation process kind of screwed in that most things are english, except some folders... the one that most concerns me right now is the IE toolbar folder. When I went to organize the my favorites, it happened to...

    Samsung ML4500

I can't be sure that the ML-4500 works through USB, but I got the printer working through a router. On the router, you set it up at 192.168.0.1 ip, using an lp queue and then install the Samsung GDI drivers found on a third-party web site (search Samsung GDI Mac OS X on google.com and you'll...

    don't "switch"

I'm not going to deny that what you are saying is quite easily true. I ran up to a lot of problems with OS X also until I updated to X.2.2. Before then, OS X was a pile of sh*t to be honest. I can't really speak about the contrast of OS 9 to OS X because I'm not familiar with anything below OS...

a Switcher... (story after the switch!)

All I'm wondering is why Mac users even try to insult a person who finds drawbacks to his Mac and considers returning to the PC. What's the point? I will be the first to say that there are a ton of drawbacks to having a Mac, most of which are related to performance. The poor library of games...

    don't "switch"

I'm just going to say this as a user of both the PC and the Mac. There's no denying that Macs are slow as hell. I think we've determined this already. The most common response to someone saying Macs are slow here is 'get more ram' which doesn't really improve the speed anyway. The way people...

    Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther" Won't Support G3

I just bought an iBook 600 and frankly, this news disappoints me. Realistically though, I see Apple simply not optimizing for the G3 anymore instead of killing G3 support entirely. It wouldn't be in their best interests to remove the G3. The reason I say this is cause, well, there's barely...

    The Best Emails....

My favorite emails are the ones where I am reminded that I am a sweetheart and told that [they] would date me if they weren't already taken and if I hadn't already a girlfriend. This happens often and the more it happens, the more frustrated and pissed off I become. Alas, they are...

    usability

I see a few faults in the Mac operating system. But the fact remains that I would love to sell my PC, Office XP and Windows XP with it and get myself a flatscreen iMac. I'll sacrifice my NHL 2003, but at least I'll have something nice to look at (crisp image). Andre

    usability

In response to window resizing. As much as I like the Mac, I do enjoy the way Windows' maximize feature actually maximizes the window to take the full screen, not 3/4 of the screen like Mac. That's my opinion.
