    DVD region codes x 5?

I didn't know that firmware got around the fuse system, but I still doubt it will be possible for the drive manufacturers to stop firmware uploading since it has real-world use. What if a dealer actually had to reset a drive? How will the drive know the difference between resetted firmware and...

    DVD region codes x 5?

Actually, fuses aren't blown at all - the changes you make ARE in fact reversable, but how easy it is depends on the DVD drive you have. You can actually change your DVD drive's firmware to ignore regions, but I might get in trouble for providing links. Just do a search for "mac dvd region free...

    X blues...

That ticking sounds like a dying HD...I would run a SMART utility on it to check it's remaining life, and backup data ASAP.

    Safari with Tabs (v62 - v71)

Yes, it is sadly. It won't happen, but it would be great if Apple implemented a nightly build program just like Camino.

DVD vs vob vs VCD vs mpg

The mpg file would be smallest and on the HD so would need the least amount of power to playback. Think about it, when you play back a DVD, your HD and your DVD drive is going - that eats more power than just the HD going. To minimize the HD activity, use a smaller MPG file than a multi-GB VOB...

Mac laptops cheaper than Dell's offerings?

Yeah, it's really hard to match Apple's laptop price & feature sets on the x86 side of the fence...plus, x86 laptops don't look nearly as cool as Apple laptops (Vaios come closest, but even they are mostly pretty boring...)

    Canon PowerShot Card Reader

Image Capture works with my S330 (nice camera, by the way). Just plug the camera in with it's USB cable, Image Capture will auto-launch (or launch it manually yourself) and click Download All. As you just may have guessed, all will download onto your Mac's HD. Alternatively, you can use...

    10.2 install problem on wallstreet

The first partition on your HD must be 8 GB or less, not 9.4 GB. That circle with the line through it means something hardware-related is kaputt, in your case likely the HD. The normal startup icon is an Apple logo on a gray background for Jaguar, and a little Happy Mac icon for all Mac OSs...

    Trying to run warcraft

It's probably copy protection - WCII needs hardware access to the CD that only OS 9 has, not Classic. It's probably possible to image the CD somehow and mount it, but I'm not the person to ask about that...

    changing menu bar text colors

Aqua is really not considered a serious or efficient user interface if you talk to most people who want to get work done without thinking that they are using a computer. Many PC users I talk to like its looks, but dont like the way it slows you down. For example, if I type a new document in...

    BootCD v0.3 help

You don't drag the .dmg file to a CD you insert in the Finder. That basically burns a CD with a .dmg file instead of making a bootable CD. Instead, open Disk Copy, go to File>Burn From Image or something like that, choose your image from the Desktop, and insert a CD when it asks.

    Improving type anti-aliasing in Jaguar

I know what you mean, but I don't see it at all on the 17" screen I use. However, if you want normal, pre-Jaguar anti aliasing, you can try going to General in System Preferences, and think using the CRT option turns off sub pixel rendering because CRTs usually don't support it.

Whoa! 12" PowerBook has a Windows/Right-Click keyboard button?

Isn't the Windows key mapping in software though? And I'll say again, you can't unplug a laptop keyboard and plug it in, and pro keyboards don't have fn keys to enable the Windows mode. So, as far as I can see, the keys are exclusively for Virtual PC (or maybe Bochs if it knows about them...

Try repairing permissions with Disk Utility in /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. That has fixed many slowdown bugs in Jaguar before.
