    Has anyone installed OpenSSH 3.3p1?

Yes, follow rantweasel's instructions. It's not as simple as waiting and letting Apple pop something into Software Update, but won't leave you exposed until then.

    Has anyone installed OpenSSH 3.3p1?

I followed the instructions of rantweasel in a similar thread at the MacNN forums. I can now report[localhost:~] admin% ssh -V OpenSSH_3.3, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090602f .

Mac OS X remote login from a PC

I have used the Secure Shell Client for Windows from SSH Security Communications Group. It works really well and seems to receive frequent maintenance updates, not to mention that it has a built-in sftp client.

    Has anyone installed OpenSSH 3.3p1?

User ramseyp of the MacNN forums posted a reply to a related post, which uses a configure command with different options. However, when I use that command, I still get the notification about the library mismatch.

    Has anyone installed OpenSSH 3.3p1?

After reading today's (06252002) MacInTouch I tried to update OpenSSH to 3.3p1. I installed the "sshd" group and "sshd" user usingsudo -s mkdir /var/empty chmod 755 /var/empty niutil -create . /groups/sshd niutil -appendprop . /groups/sshd gid 2109 niutil -appendprop . /groups/sshd passwd...

    Verizon DSL

You will need a router like the one you can buy at Best Buy for $30 (after rebate), a D-Link DI-604. The reason is that the cable modem will only provide you with one IP address exposed to the Internet. If you have 4 hosts at your dad's house without a router there will be the potential for...

Cisco VPN tunnel OK, ping works, but no SMB connectivity

I am using the VPN client for Mac OS X to connect to our corporate network. The problem that I have is that after starting the VPN connection (configured for split tunneling) I can ping the WINS server, but can't use it to resolve WINS names: [localhost:~] admin% ping 10.20.1.10...

Resource for Cisco VPN issues sought

I am trying to set up an SMB connection from my home Mac to the office Windows network through a Cisco VPN. I got the VPN client installed and working but don't know where to go from there. Can you recommend any resources that would go in-depth on this stuff?

Kingston KNE120TX support built into Mac OS X?

Somewhere I came across claims that Kingston's KNE120TX 10/100Base-T NIC is supported by Mac OS X without having to install extra driver software. In my own test I have found this to not be true. Perhaps support was dropped with one of the 10.1.x updates? Dominik Hoffmann

fink can't install Debian Utils during self-compile

I just looked at ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/d/debianutils/, which shows that the revision level is now at 1.16. I guess, I now have to find the file in the Fink 0.4.0 distribution where this is referenced and change it.

    Making OS X 10.1 upgrade CD stand-alone

You mean the command "ditto" from the command line, right? Do you just copy the files to their own folder and then burn the contents of that folder onto a CD-R? I guess, my question is, how, exactly, do you do this? Also, with a Toast image of the CD ROM I didn't find anything that qualified...
