Herve, how come you never seem to reply in the threads you create? I'd like to engage in dialogue. . . . where are you? :D
  2. homer

    eh?

Well okay, you're the first person I've "met" who's played both sports. I, on the other hand, have played neither, but have watched plenty of games. So I defer judgment to you. . . . Even with what you've said, I'd still prefer not to be jumping in the air and have some big linebacker tackle...
  3. homer

    eh?

Yup. :p Well actually, it's possible that rugby is safer than American football, what with the much stricter rules for tackling. And because rugby players don't wear helmets, they're less likely to get some nasty neck injury from a facemask tackle. Now concussions, that's another story...

    eh?

Yeah, even rugby uses the foot more than "football" does. However, usually the rugby use is to trample on people's heads. . . ;) :D

    eh?

I agree! From Merriam-Webster online: Etymology: by shortening & alteration from "association football" Date: 1889 I dunno. What do you think?

Defrag the OSX disk ? How ?

Ah, THAT'S what you meant. Hard drives are such weird things. Having those heads just fractions of millimeters above the disk surface, I would really expect the heads to go crashing into the surface a lot. But they don't. Technology is certainly amazing. . ..

Oh yeah, what am I, a Vulcan? ;)

Oh yeah, that's perfect. :D Yup, I've usually got a pony tail. I think I've got a picture somewhere, though, of my Jesus impression. I'll have to try to dig that up. . . .

Okay, I've gotta enter the fray. Here's one of me at "work" in the lab, doing my Ozzy Osbourne impression. ;) No, I would never do that. . . . :D

Defrag the OSX disk ? How ?

Wow, that's a great description, Ed. :D But can fragmentation actually lead to filesystem corruption?

2 Partitions... one for OSX and other for OS9

LOL. That reminds me of ol' George W. "firing up a pretzel", with its consequences. . . . ;) :p

World Cup 2002 News – Senegal Upsets France In A 1-0 Victory!

You're very right. However, football/soccer is pretty popular among the young'uns here. Who knows, maybe if there are some lockouts like the NBA had a few years ago Americans will turn their attention to football/soccer. And then, who knows? The US has plenty of money for some good...

Huh? What? Have I entered the Twilight Zone? Oh, I just strayed into a Herve thread. Whoops! ;) :D
  14. homer

    eh?

Okay, I've sunk to a new low by quoting myself. Anyway, yay for Senegal!

    eh?

ohmigosh, I disliked the Bulls because of Jordan & Co. Too many championships. Then I transferred my distaste to the Lakers once they started winning too many in a row. Underdogs rule! Go underdogs in the World Cups (soccer and rugby and cricket!) I like watching rugby. All...

samba: mounting my XP disc on my mac and visa versa

Okay, I still think SMB Browse is goofy. If I start Windows while the Mac is on, I can use SMB Browse to access the Windows shares. Perfect. If I start the Mac while the Windows machine is running, SMB Browse doesn't see the Windows shares. Not perfect. I can even mount the Windows...

    eh?

Sacramento's up 3-2 against the Lakers. Game 6 is tomorrow night in LaLa Land. Go Kings! (this from a guy living in Wisconsin). I just can't stand the Lakers. ;) :D Well spake! :D

2 Partitions... one for OSX and other for OS9

A while ago I had OS 9 on one partition, and LinuxPPC on another partition. LinuxPPC' s pdisk (is that correct?) utility was SUPPOSED to allow me to reclaim that partition for HFS (I think), but it never worked properly (I would only have about 90 MB out of a 1 GB partition available)...

Drive 10 or Norton SystemWorks 2?

You know, in my experience, paying money for NU (or any other drive utility like it) is totally bogus. I've never had a problem that Norton has fixed, at least in terms of major problems. It "fixed" a boot block error for me, rendering my drive unbootable and making me reinstall OS X...

2 Partitions... one for OSX and other for OS9

Unless something has changed since the last time I tried doing that, I think you'll have to reformat and repartition the whole HDD in order to reclaim that YDL partition. So then you could either make two partitions, install OS 9 on one and OS X on the other, or just install both 9 and X on one...
