    Hard drive speeds?

sirstaunch, nobody said it was impossible to find this information out... There are many ways to get it. I'm sure this took less than 2 minutes (much thanks to Google vs. Apple), but, IMHO, it ought to require less effort...

OS X 10.5 "Red Box" to run windows apps natively?

Okay, so this related to the question I've been having... What file system would they use to run the Windows Red Box? Would it be HFS+, Fat32, or NTFS? I'm asking in connection to the virus question because I think it'd be wise to have Windows MORE isolated than Classic is today. One way to...

    Why wma?

Okay, so if Apple is partnering with Nokia and/or other cell phone makers to be able to play ITMS files, then wouldn't that mean that Apple actually IS starting to license ther DRM? IMHO, of all of the big announcements Apple could make, making their DRM more widely avaiable would be huge...

Apple are planning a press conference for September 7

I'm not sure how many people are following Al Gore's new venture Curent TV. They're betting that short format is the wave of the future for telvision. They are embracing viewer created content in lenghts from 5 minutes up. I'm not saying I agree with that, but if that's the case then it...

No no! Are you kidding? A solid state mini would be AMAZING! The biggest complaint I currently have about my tech setup is friggin' noise... Both my G4 and TiVo are "reletively" quite... But at night there might as well be a car idling in the driveway. A solid state mini would not only be...

OS X 10.5 "Red Box" to run windows apps natively?

Couldn't there just as easily be a "Purple" box to run Linux in? Seems like thre are two things: 1) The hardcware level thing to make normal Windows/Linux recognize MacTel hardware as Intel (Sufficient for a dual boot or VirtualPC-type thing) 2) Some sort of software in an OS X "box" to make...

Printing a single image over multiple pages

BTW, here is the way I do this with the "consumer" Photoshop Elements: 1) I created a file that was 16inches wide by 10 talll... esentially 2 8x10 sheets. 2) I opened Print Preview 3) I made sure the settings were: a) Postion: not centered, but top and left set to 0 b) Scale: Made sure the...

    Hard drive speeds?

True... But Apple orders these components built-to-spec... This should be IN the spec! Anything that's in the Marketing materials for the machine ought to be confirmable via the Apple System Profiler. ...IMHO, of course...

URL sites ending in .tk not accessible Safari

Issues between machines is quite different than issues between 2 browsers on the same machine. So if one machine can access, and another can't, that would mean one of two things: 1) You are connecting to differnt DNS servers. (Especially likely if you are using DHCP to dynamically get IP...

URL sites ending in .tk not accessible Safari

If the domain does not exist in DNS then NO browser will be able to access it by name. However some browser (IE) cache DNS entires, so if it was in DNS once-upon-a-time, then IE might simply be "remembering" it.

Query about the Dot Mac server

It looks like NetCraft is reporting on some front-end caching mechanism for thier HTTP site. The file server stuff is over WebDAV... Right? Is that also HTTP? How is it possible for the OS=Linux but the Web server to be "Apache/1.3.33 Darwin"? Darwin != Linux... Confused...
