Equivalent of a PC batch file needed

If you just want to do a daily copy, get a backup tool like Carbon Copy Cloner or Retrospect... They both can be scheduled to do this very basic task.

Windows Media Player 9 For Max Os X Tiger

.wvm is like QuickTime's .mov. It's not a file format per se, but rather a wrapper for many different file formats. The problem is more and more sites are using the Windows Media 10 file format, and of course that does not work with the old WM v.9 that Microsoft has for Mac. Of course MS is...

Hmmm... I have several programs that I run exclusively from Disk Images. I've had no problems doing this. BTW, the way I'd describe a Disk Image is being something like a compressed .ZIP file that uncompresses and mounts as a drive vs. a folder. > 4. Where can I find codex files for video...

Steve Jobs possibly running for Governor of California???

Come on... Steve is already running 2 companies and battling cancer! Do you think he really has the extra time (not to mention tolerance for concensus) to run this state? Do you really think Steve would accept anything less powerful than an almighty all-powerful king/monarch role? Do you...

    OSx86: Are You Serious?

True, but that's the opposite of the question asked when this thread was started: That's the question I addressed. That's the question that you're all (Except RacerX) digressing from...

    Odd Anacron error message

Hmmm.... Is there some sort of monitary reward for stumping the entire MacOSX.com community? So, I'm not sure what happened, but I'll explain what I've done to get around it.. Aparently the last time I dismounted the disk image Anacron was complaining about, it did not dismount properly. It...

    Question for users in India

Uh oh... Does that mean it has officially begun? Are the Indians now importing out of work US people to work THERE? Should I Monster Banglor? (No ofense or attempt to start a big discussion... Just trying to be funny... from the perspective of a guy who got laid off recently.)

Mail.app NO I don't want to use you!!!!!

I forget exactly when Apple took away the Internet Pref Pane (10.1 -> 10.2 or 10.2 -> 10.3). However when that happend I simply copied the Pref Pane from my old OS to the new one and it continues to function fine to this day. It's burried under /System/Library/PreferncePanes. I'm sure More...

Unable to "load up" Office 2004

I keep a clean user account set up for this kind of testing. This enables me to quickly confirm if the problem is preferences related without actually deleting an plist file. ;)

    OSx86: Are You Serious?

NO No No! You've got multiple things wrong here. (Maybe it's your glasses that are on upside-down & backwards?) 1) Just sticking an Intel CPU in a Mac does NOT make it a "generic PC"... To be a "generic PC" it must conform to all kinds of specific things that Apple need not concern itself...

    Security Update 2005-007

    OSx86: Are You Serious?

No... It won't! The club will remain little because Apple will not let the scumbags in... And the scumbags will make up all kinds of BS about why they didn't want in anyway! Think about it. Apple announced ONLY CPU changes... It's the Toppers and Feature Creeps who keep insiting that this...

Unable to "load up" Office 2004

Do you have any programs like LittleSnitch installed that limit programs access to the Internet? If so you might be blocking the applications attemts to check for updates, which it does on first-launch.
