hold command and drag out any unwanted menu items. you can also rearrange the menu items with the command key. your basic menu items are stored at system/library/coreservices/menu extras. just double click one to put it in the menu bar.

yes specs please. i myself have an iMac 400 DV and OSX runs fine on it. and i used to have an iMac 333 and that ran X ok, if a little slow... memory helps though. both machines i just mentioned each have 300+ MB of memory.
