i would figure it's just an OS issue with your Mac...or the configuration of your mac. I seriously doubt if you didn't change anything hardware wise before the upgrade to 10.3 or had any sort of hardware problems that the speed would just drop :| or run @ half of it's intended speed, heh. But...

it would be wierd if it were running at the wrong clockspeed. I'd try just leaving the facotry installed stuff in and taking out the other ram you put in...just for testing purposes and see what the system profiler reports. If it is somehow running at 100mhz then yes, you would be loosing some...

I liked all 3...overall i loved the series..and the animatrix, and the sometimes hard to follow story line..i'm sure this isn't the last we'll see from Neo...it's just too much of a money maker to go away, heh.

We should also be glad we are able to have an OS update every year, that unlike MS Service Packs, actually add something OTHER than security patches to our macs. ;)

it could be a flaky NV driver...but nvidia doesn't provide any drivers and digging through apples support site didn't reveal anything...hmm

The volume control in your menu bar changes the overall system volume, but if you drag the slider while holding the option key, you change only the alert volume.

Yeah "logic card" was the diag on it...which means the motherboard of the thing is shot...i dont' know why they even bother calling it a "Card" because it's not, heh. They are going to replace the motherboard and i just hope it doesn't happen again, at least not too quickly, seeing as there...

I also believe you can hold down command and drag the volume down to change the volume of the alerts but i'm not sure...i forget it's it the command or the option key..blah

I've seen this issue on Pcs and sometimes it's the software that causes the dvds to not play. Maybe it's Apples DVD software? It could be hardware...but i'd doubt that very much...since the drive seems to read some dvds just fine as you said.

This was brought up at least twice on the forums, search for it ;) In one of the threads someone explains it properly. Basically it's a refund for people who had a G3 and didn't install OS x...or something like that.

Yup, in my case Panther was MUCH faster and a lot more stable after a clean install.
