I just want to play with some XML, maybe some DTD, schemas, and XSLT so I'm just looking for any software that ships with OSX that will facilitate that. Do you think this would be better in the programming forum?

I don't suppose there's an XML parser (or validator) that ships with OS X, or do I need to download one?

Hi, I'm sure there's a faq or post about this, but I couldn't find it, so if you know of one, point me to the right thread. I'd like to start the perl module in Apache and run a basic hello world script. Can someone explain how to do this for a newbie like myself?

As you can see, I'm totally new to OSX. So my user account that I set up right out of the box has Admin priviledges, is that right? So sudo asks for an Admin password (for which my user account counts as valid) while su asks for the root's password? Am I getting this at all or am I way off...

Okay, that must have been it then.

When I try to edit httpd.conf from pico, and I do ^X and "Y" to save changes, it tells me "Cannot open file for writing". Any idea what's wrong? I'm just trying to uncomment the PHP modules but can't seem to save httpd.conf when I've uncommented the appropriate lines.

On my new 17" Powerbook, I can't drag and drop anything. I can only select/deselect and cut/paste, but no drag. This is consistent throughout all my apps. I can manage getting around the finder with cut/paste, but I can't do any graphic work if I can't drag anything (you can imagine). I know...
