Apple KB & Mouse over USb hub - possible?

The Apple keyboards ARE a hub, and I think they won't work connected to another hub vs. directly to the Mac. The mouse should work if you plug it directly into the hub since that would be the same as plugging it into the keyboard.

    Spyware in Tiger?? Please help

How would a network admin decect such a thing? Probably he's just confused because your Mac is connecting to some "non-standard" (i.e. Mac-specific) ports that he's complely unfamiliar with. To see what ports you're allowing in check out your Firewall in Sharing, or do a port scan of yourself...

    executing php files thru safari

First of all, browsers don't "execute" php... ever. the Apache web server and PHP engine work together to do that. By accessing the file directly from the filesystem you are skipping Apache... thus no execution and rendering. Yes there are tricks to execute the code, but why %^#$%^ bother...

    The deed is done

Let that be a warning to you... Mother Nature does not like PeeCee's. I understand being fried by an lightning caused electrical surge, but to actually be HIT by lightning! How does lightning hit your computer a the house? Was it sitting out in the back yard when lightning struck?

    outgoing email/authentication problems

2 things my ISP added over the last year: 1) I can no longer send email unless I've checked (read/receiving) email in the last # minutes. 2) My outgoing email now requires me to authenticate just like receiving. Possibly your ISP made one/both of these changes to your service?

Product to allow iPod to receive and play live radio?

Internet radio, or AM/FM broadcast radio? I know the latter do exist. Most of the FM devices you'll find do the opposite... They let you wirelessly play your iTunes through an FM radio (i.e. in your car).

More than 3 minutes to boot Panther?!

When you first build OS X, doesn't it consume a lot of CPU/Disk i/o trying to build it's Sheerlock index? Also, it will take longer to boot the first time any after any hard re-boots (kernel panics, power outages, etc.) OS X might need to do some catchup work when you switch from OS 9 to OS X.

    Remembering When?

Hey! I most clearly remember the switch from the 68030-->68040, and 68040-->PPC (G1)... And I most certainly do NOT have a grey beard. Sheesh! Kids today! You think history is anything more than 15 minutes ago! But to answer your question, there is at any given moment at time some level of...

    Finder FTP

Yeah, I sort of miss the many (many many many) years we got Fetch for free from Datrmouth College... ...but now that they simply licence it to Fetch Softworks as a revenue source, I that. (Our schools are so underfunded, and I'd rather this than some other slimy partnerships) I finally bought...

    Finder FTP

Are you telling me they STILL have not finished implementing full read/write FTP functionality into the Finder? This is somehting I first gave Apple "Feedback" about back in the 10.0.0 public beta. I guess it's never going to happen and I should give up waiting... but I really don't understand...

Michael Dell: "I would sell OS X on my machines"

So you'd rather have big, loud, power hungry machines filling your data center? Personally I'd rather have twice as many xServes, and then just swap one out when the power supply dies. I beleive in redundancy, but not of every single part. As long as you've got redudant systems, you should be...
