    Corrupt Mac Mail

You may just need to repair permissions via Disk Utility, but it sounds like the title of your post has nailed it. Tho, more specifically, it's probably Mail's preference file. In your Users/yourname/Library/Preferences folder is a file called com.apple.Mail.plist. It most likely needs to be...

    Fax Preferences Gray/Blocked

Out on a limb with a weird question... Is there a printer installed on your mom's computer? Was reading this article which says that in Tiger, fax options can be greyed out when printing if there isn't a printer installed first. Article shows how to set up a dummy printer to get around this...

"you have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read."

1 of 2 things could be happening: Either the Drive is formatted such that it's unreadable on a mac (there aren't many, by the way) Most likely, unfortunately, is that your USB Drive has gone bad. Flash drives are notorious for this, and we all tend to learn this the hard way. You can try...

Frozen desktop and finder not responding. Help!

Things to try, in roughly this order: 1)If you can get to System preferences, create another account to test for the same problem. (if there's already another user account on your mac, hold down shift at boot to get into safe mode, which disables auto-login) 2) If you can get to Disk...

iWeb and 100webspace- Novice needing help

All the links are working for me, staying the same across all pages. Looks like whatever you did worked out. You've got a good amount of content up there for such a short amount of time. Keep up the good work!

iWeb and 100webspace- Novice needing help

Hey there, it seems like you still don't have the whole contents of the site up, or at least in their correct place. The way the whole site is arranged in the folder created by iWeb should look EXACTLY like the same when you put it up via Cyberduck, folder structure and all. For example, when...

Burning a Keynote slide show to CD/DVD

Sure. In the current version of iWork, you go under the Share menu to Export (I believe older versions had the Export feature under the File menu) choose Quicktime, then Manual Advance (will go to next slide when viewer hits space bar). Then choose Full Quality, Large under formats and check...

iWeb and 100webspace- Novice needing help

It looks like you can actually simplify your process with just a little bit of info. There are directions on iwebfaq.org (here's the link) (scroll down to chapter 2) that will tell you how to use one of iWeb's built-in features to upload your site via FTP (file transfer protocol). In the FTP...

Mail: nonstop incoming messages at 0 KB/s?

I've seen this on systems ranging from eMacs to iMac G5s to Mac Pros, from Panther to Leopard. It's also one of those problems that I haven't been able to recreate consistently. It just happens sometimes, more often when you more than 1000 messages in your Inbox. Since it sounds like you have...

    OS 10.4.9 on powerpc G5

There's an update for ProTools that you can find here (link) Hope that helps. And when your problem isn't actually the same as the original post, it wouldn't hurt to start a new thread in the future. No worries though. Good Luck.

    Application deleted

Welcome to Mac. To reinstall iPhoto, there is a program out there called Pacifist (link) that will let you go into your installer disk to find the iPhoto installer package. Pretty handy. There's instructions on how to use it all over this forum, just search for Pacifist. As for getting back...

My signature disappears if I attach a WORD file

When you attach a file to send to a Windows user, click the Attach button, select your file, and check the box that says "Send Windows-Friendly Attachments". That should help. Let us know if it doesn't.

    idvd plall all

Hey there. iDVD has always been a pain because of the lack of Play All button. But here's an article that covers the process (it says iMovie 09, but the process is the same) It's not a terribly elegant solution to what should be, in my opinion, a simple process. But it seems to get the job...

    Locked, no-name exe on desktop

___.exe is the name of a known trojan. On your mac, it's harmless (unless you're sharing your desktop with a virtual Windows machine) Not only CAN you delete, but you SHOULD delete it. If you have a problem unlocking it to delete it, try following the directions in this Apple document. If...

    file not readable

Do you mean a document created in Pages? If so, the you need to Export it as a Microsoft Word document using Export under the File Menu. Send the word version to your friend (yes, Windows users CAN be our friends). Good Luck.

    Address Book

Hopefully you've been using 10.5's best feature (in my opinion), Time Machine. If so, then you can just roll back to find the last version of your Address Book folder in Users/yourname/Library/Application Support Otherwise, I believe you're out of luck.

    Can't save files to desktop

If your signature is up-to-date, then I recommend updating to 10.4.11. Then, here's a couple things to try. First, Repair Permissions (from within Disk Utility, search this site for details if needed). Second, run a program like Onyx. Let us know if any of that helps. Good Luck!
