Can not upload application files in Safari2+

If you are against uploading .zip files, you could see if Firefox would upload your files successfully. There's no telling what changed between Safari 1.2.3 and 2.0, suffice to say that there are still plenty of bugs for Apple to work out. I'd recommend sending them a bug report.

    new cinema displays?

The specs of the 30" Cinema Display received an increase recently on Apple's site. This doesn't reflect an actual upgrade, but Apple's response to Dell's posting of higher specs for their 30" monitor. They can do this because both monitors use the exact same panel made by LG. The difference...

You can also force a disk to eject by holding down the mouse button when you turn on your computer.

    How well did you do?

Here's a pic of the oh-so-glorious 0.35 megapixel Apple QuickTake 200, for the nostalgic among us. (Also several up on eBay, ride the crappy Apple peripheral wave today!)

iPod treats audiobook tracks like regular music tracks

Just found some instructions here. Doesn't say how to make it an audible or iTMS audiobook format (but the file extension for those is .aa, if that helps)

    How well did you do?

9 outta 10 on the first. I gotta gripe that #8 is more a test of my knowledge of US Magazine than Apple. 10 outta 10 on the second one (after the fourth try ^_^, initially 4/10)

Migration Assistant Only works via Target Disk Mode, which requires a firewire cable. Thankfully, such a thing can be bought off the web for about $2.

    Bye Bye (Tara Rwan)

Man, only having 2 fingers with suction cups must make typing difficult. But hey, call Apple before ya go, they may want to get a head start and build an Apple Store on Io. Right by the Starbucks.

Beatles' Apple vs. Apple (Apple wins...) merged thread...

It's all about Steve Jobs' bullishness when it comes to getting his way. He signed the initial agreement with AppleCorps with a smile, knowing fullwell that someday it would be an issue down the road. So every 4 or 5 years, AppleCorps shows up, sues for $25 million or so, and everyone's happy...

    postscript from quark

I was raised on QuarkXPress since version 3. I've loved it and I've hated it. Since Indesign came out, I've not been in the page layout biz, so I've only had tinkering-level experience with it. Tho, at my current job, the media lab SWEARS by it over Quark. Of course, if i learned it, I'd...

Entry level colour laser advice please.

Phasers are fantastic printers. As for the HP Color LaserJets, I've had nothing but headaches from the HP CLJ2500. It's slow, jams for no good reason, and offers very little interaction. Additionally, the toner is very expensive, offers low capacity, and are prone to leaking splotches of...

    printing multiple copies from quark

What version of Quark are you running? Have you checked for updates? Maybe a good old fashioned Quark reinstall might be in order, based on this and other posts you've had regarding Quark.

Beatles' Apple vs. Apple (Apple wins...) merged thread...

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Apple has worked "Settlements/Payoffs to the freakin' Beatles" into their annual iTunes budget.

Question about connecting a LaserWriter 4/600 PS to a PowerBook

EDIT: Correcting my own stupidity. The early PBG3s had serial ports, contrary to what i said originally. And yes, there ARE USB to Serial adapters out there (like here for instance)

Question about connecting a LaserWriter 4/600 PS to a PowerBook

Do you have the ability to test this Laserwriter on any other machine? I ask to verify whether or not the Laserwriter itself still works. Reserach shows that the LW 4/600PS is Appletalk capable as well, which means it should work with OS X for testing purposes.
