    Boot Lion from External SSD

You still see a multiple factor speed increase if you switched the drives, SSD mounted internal as boot drive and 500GB external for backups. Put the SSD on the fastest bus and give it a chance to live up to it's potential.

    How to unbind "Close Window"?

Maybe try attacking your problem from the other end. I just did a google search for "change Emacs keybindings" and found a dozen or so hits.

    Pinwheel of death returns

The best App ever for finding all traces of an application and letting you manipulate them is "EasyFind". Configure it to search for Files+Folders+Ignore Case+Package Contents+Invisible Files and it will totally get rid of all traces of an application. BTW it's also free.

Full hard drive will not start up

djackmac is most often right on, but something you might try would be to boot up using the install CD, then using Disk Utility from the top menu check and see if the drive is mounted. If it is, then try using "Repair disk", this is a real stretch but hey, who knows.

Have 10.7 but need 10.6 to support older software sdk

If you still have a system running 10.6 you could boot it in Target disk mode and try booting your new MBP from it just to see how well it works, then go from there.

Go HERE, download and install the appropiate version for your computer. Or even better, just run software update from the Apple menu, this should show you a newer 10.4 version.

    ibook g4 hd formatting

If the install disks you purchased are "grey" colored and not designed for the "exact" model of computer you are trying to install them on, they will not work. The grey disks come with each new apple computer and are machine specific, the install disks you need will be the retail versions which...

    Move to iCloud

I made the move a few days ago, one of the systems I still use is a G4 Cube running 10.4.11 and Apple Mail handles my .mac emails just fine. Although I can log into and use the web interface, I much prefer to use the regular Mail application and was glad to see it continues to work.

    Snow Leopard startup issue

You can repair your boot drive from a single user mode boot prompt, no need for an install disc. To start up in single user mode, power up while pressing the "cmd+S" keys. This will take you to a dos-like prompt screen. At the command-line prompt type: /sbin/fsck -fy if the results show your...

    Spinning Beach Ball Blues!

I am aware you are running 10.5.8, I was suggesting you to re-run the 10.5.8 Combo update to correct any corrupt files. Understandably you'll need to get a running system before this can happen.

    Spinning Beach Ball Blues!

should you be lucky and get your system up and running, I would suggest downloading and running the 10.5.8 combo update. This cannot hurt your system and might just repair any corrupt files etc.

    Mac OS X - 10.4. to 10.5

You'll need a Black retail install disc, just as MisterMe stated, and the going rate is approx. $130 on EBay or Amazon.

    Update/upgrade Power Mac G5

sorry if I confused you, what I was referring to was that the original install disks for other models (grey colored) will not work. These are found on places like EBay and are usually cheaper then the Retail install disks. For this reason a lot of folks get sucked into buying them only to find...

    Update/upgrade Power Mac G5

"Likely be gone" not necessarily, my G4 cube is 11 years old and still going strong. Upgrade the hardware so it's the best it can be, and the software will still do tomorrow what it is doing for you today.
