I can mess with the "leet" if I feel like it. :p I use tall and high as described above so long as I'm not using either to describe something. If I'm describing something, I tend to interchange them. i.e. "That building is too tall" and "That building is too high" have a 50-50 chance...

Could be a bad preference file. You could try moving ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver somewhere else and then restarting and see if it still happens. Note that removing that file will probably cause your menu extras not to be loaded, you'll probably have to set them up again...

Hmm, since it looks like that is communicating with a server, it could be that it needs to be root to bind to low numbered ports ('course, they could fix that pretty easily, too).

You could put it anywhere. I actually created the folder /Library/CronJobs just for 'em on my systems. I put a few maintenance scripts I created there. So long as you put the full path to them in the crontab, it doesn't matter where they are.

Don't forget to trim the roots back every now and then. ;)

If you don't have a place that fixes macs around, yes. BTW, with a bad power supply, the power supply fan can spin up for a second. You'll hear it because while it's only on for a split second, it takes longer for it to stop spinning. I had that happen to me.
