    Making Terminal black...

I'm am so not even going to touch that... I can't count the number of times I have overlooked the simplest things in a quest to do something to a program....

I unbderstand what you're saying, but, believe it or not, defragging is a neceesary act in my experience to date with OS X. I have done four clean installs and on everyone running Norton Disk Doctor reveals severe fragmentation. I have only used Norton for doing this, so i don't know what is...

    1. Have you installed the firmware update through 9.1 Software update or directly off the support site? It is either 4.1.8 or 4.8.1, can't remember exactly which way the numbers fall. Also, have you defragged your harddrive? Both of those will help with the performance issues you are stating...

Mac OS X 10.0.1 Update Available

If you reinstalled OS X Final over an install of 4L5 or 4L7, then it is possible that it maintained your preferences file or additions in your receipts folder. First, try deleting all OS X info from the /Library/Receipts folder (the one off of root directory), then log out and back in. Rerun...

MacOs X and 2906 scsi card

I have run OS X on a secondary system with the 2906 SCSI card. Initially it did not work, terminating the drive allowed me to run OS X, haven't put anything on it, so i don't know if native drivers work or if we're waiting for Adaptec to put out new drivers. TO dleonis: Apple made repeated...

    Mac OS X Update 10.0.1

If you're still getting a "System Up to Date" message it may be that the site is overwhelmed. Software Update defaults to that message if you aren't let into the qeue. Try later!

    Mac OS X Update 10.0.1

The Software Update program checks what is available against what is in its receipts folder, as the names of the files are the same for 4L5/4L7 and 4L13 (the official update), it thinks your system is already updated. To resolve this, go to Library/Receipts and remove any ofe the pkgs from 4L5...

Get OS X update 10.0.1 HERE!!!!!

Okay, I really don't mean this insultingly, but I have to laugh... you all are playing around with 4L7 and the Apple site tells you to use Software Update to install 4L13.... hehe, it is definitely Friday the 13th!

    1) OS X is near perfect with the Dual Processor G4. Beyond two kernel panics way back on the very first day of using the system (3/24) I have had no problems. Don't get me wrong, Quartz does still need to be opimized and set to run on the GPU, but with the Dual I haveno problems working in X...

    Icon Previews

Well, this may seem obvious, but I'll say it just to rule it out as a possibility. In order to be clearly represented at the larger sizes the preview icon has to be in the new 128-bit size. It is possible that while Graphic converter may work in X that it still creates old sized icon...

    Icon Previews

It sounds to me like you're refering to the Dock ability to automatically cale the icons up to their full size. By the way, unless I'm mistaken, icons for the Mac (any Mac) do not come in those crappy icon archive files that Windoze uses. Hence, every icon collection i've opened is...

    Give me a BREAK

Okay, so where in the HELL did Apple actually say this? And, shouldn't it be the release of 10.0.1 this week? You said 10.1, which as far as I knew wasn't supposed to be out until MWNY... I think maybe you're pulling our leg...

    Folder Backrounds

I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but... When you bring up the view options to insert a pic for the background of a folder under global, it will apply that pic to the currently open finder folder. However, when you open a new finder folder/window (whatever the correct terminology is)...

All Adobe Apps. under OSX suck.

Strobe, I think if you read the highlights of the CEO's remarks (I can never remember his name, but Maccentral has an article about the speech and demo) you'll see that Adobe is planning on aggressively pursuing OS X. The direction they seem to be orienting their products is to "Network"...

    Multiple Docks

I was trying to do basically the same thing, with NO luck. I tried starting a second Dock, no luck. I tried to find the Dock calls, no luck. I came up with a Dock adaptation scheme i posted in another forum, but no one replied to tell me what they thought or whether the adaptation was even...

    DeskTop Console

I dled and installed the DeskTop Console 1.0 app. but, i think i put it in the wrong place or started it up wrong, because absolutely nothing happens. I tried redirecting it to the syslog through it's preference menu and still nothing. Can anyone help out here? Also, is there a way to get it to...

All Adobe Apps. under OSX suck.

Whoever your friend was, and whoever the rep was, well... they are sorely mistaken. In fact, read the reports from Seybold. The CEo of Adobe publicly came out and reiterated his company's position regarding Apple and specifically OS X. they also "debuted" an in development copy of InDesign for...

Is it my install or is X too slow

There are a few options that can help speed up your system without sacrificing other performance variables (i.e., without reducing color to thousands, etc.). 1) You can use the prebind terminal hack, as listed in other posts. You won't see any effect in speed if you have already installed the...
