All Adobe Apps. under OSX suck.

I use Canvas, and consider it a fair program. But, I still find Illustrator more efficient in certain regards and much easier to use. This, however, could just be me feeling unsettled in a new environment, much the same way a lot of you old time Mac users are feeling out of place in OS X...

What % of you time do you spend in OS X

To date, I only have to boot back to 9.1 for two things, using Entourage to read mail, it has messed up a few times with HTML mail, and to run GoLive 5.0, the point and shoot arrow drawing problem gets in the way of working fast under Classic. Everything else i do i have been able to run through...

    dock issues...

it sounds as though you have the dock set at the bottom of the screen. the easy way to alleviate problems moving things to the bottom without running over the Dock is to move it to the right or left. That combined with auto hide should resolve all but one of your problems - the text color. but...

Human Interface Standards, the Dock and More...

Both of you are starting an argument that's been running on these threads and throughout the history of OS development. In movng to a standards based OS, Apple has chosen a MUCH more logical approach to the menu bar then they have used before. In 9.1 and previous Mac OSes, the menu bar...

    Menu and desktop font size

... regarding the Menu bar at certain screen resolutions. You should post your sys config in your signature, so people can respond to you more accurately. As an example... I am using an Apple Cinema Display (noted in my config in signature) at 1600x1024. At this resolution my menu bar is only...

    Optimizing

... that's not yet a modifiable option. And, even if it were, it would do you knwo real good as the desktop is render through Quartz and it has yet to be optimized to run in the GPU instead of the CPU. It hasn't been much of a problem for me, though, so i haven't completely read everything...

All Adobe Apps. under OSX suck.

Okay, so really, they aren't paying attention to these boards at all. But, Adobe has said they will be supporting OS X in the next release of all their flagship products. The question, however, is, when will those "next" versions be coming? Acrobat 5.0 was released after OS X and it has no...

OmniWeb - What am I missing?

I've already sent feedback to Omni detailing the rendering problem as far as I could discern from cursory information. But, everyone's been blowing so much smoke up Omni's butt lately, i think they may feel it isn't something they need to address immediately, but, from a design perspective, if i...

All Adobe Apps. under OSX suck.

This might actually be your problem with crashing the system. There have been a lot of problems regarding 3rd party RAM. If you search the boards you'll find out more on it. I haven't really read through most of the stuff on it as I haven't had crashes or kernel panics to speak of outside of IE...

    fonts in OSX

I've been using PhotoShop in Classic since the second day of having OS X installed on my machine (the 25th of March) and I haven't had ANY problems. In point of fact, it has run faster under Classic then it ever has in 9.1 (timed differences using Action scripting and batch processing).

    Active Server Pages on Apache?

Atoms, I for one just went out and bought books on Perl and PHP4. Hoepfully I'm not too old to teach them to myself, but I agree they are far better than ASP... and more worth the time. Ciao

OmniWeb - What am I missing?

...there are still several sites which do not render correctly, including my company's. Just based on a few of my surface observations I believe this has to do with Omni's handling of CSS and Javascript layout calls, but i could be obtuse here, i haven't spent enough time using the broswer...

All Adobe Apps. under OSX suck.

maxebb, I'm sure documenting your experience with the apps would just be asking too much, so let me relate my experinece with Adbe products on OS X. PhotoShop (6.01) - It opens fast and actually runs faster. I have had no problems running it in Classic, up to and including using large...

    Alias in the doc?

Okay, I understand what you're saying, but I think you're trying to do too much when all you need is simplicity. I currently have two primary Applications Folders, one for OS X Apps and one for OS 9 Apps. inside of either of those are Folders dividing each set of applications into smaller...

    Give me a BREAK

Steal screen space? Okay, if you say so... of course, I'm on a Cinema Display, so it really doesn't bother me, and when I autohide my Dock pops up almost too fast. So, ican't even begin to sympathize with you there. But, I will concede that clicking on the app window is any easier way to bring...

    Give me a BREAK

How is clicking on an icon in the Dock NOT one step? Click! BAMMM! All windows forward... Because the Dock uses an icon doesn't mean you can't have hierarchical storage. I have a folder on my dock for my MP3s, when I click and hold on it I get a pop-up of the thirteen folders within that...
