    G5 is it a myth

...buy a new computer every 3 months and sell the 'old' one. (I just ordered my new 17'' LCD iMac) It will keep you up to speed with newest developments, while the costs aren't that high and it forces you to save money for an upgrade with only a short time-span. (for me, it is easier to save...

Using disk copy to backup dvd

Since backing up the OSX 10.1.2 install disk that came with my iMac worked out well, isn't it possible to backup a DVD (movie) the same way? I haven's tried it yet, since making as .img file of a DVD takes soooo long. Martijn

Strange problem. Can anyone replicate it?

It is a nasty Norton problem. It appears that I had to delete a file called DTDaemon, a filesaver document, causing the problem (recognised by Symantec). As for now, the problem appears to be over indeed. Thanks for your comments! Martijn

Strange problem. Can anyone replicate it?

I am curious if someone is capable of replicating my problem. I did the following After starting up in OSX (10.1.5) and immediately pressing Apple-S, my iMac starts up in Unix. I did fsck -y until my computer appears to be OK. Then I type "exit" and OSX starts. Now comes the tricky part...

Word (SP1) doesn't recognise installed font in 10.1.5

Updated Office, everything still worked fine. After upgrade to 10.1.5 Word messing up my documents (strange outline, overlapping letters) when using an installed font (Swift). When changing font to e.g. Arial, everything is OK again. Strange thing about this is when I print to PDF (osx built-in)...

iDisk faster in Windows than Mac!!!

Annoying and depressing. When I access my iDisk folder via the same internet connection on my girlfriends windows laptop (nothing special: PII, 128Mb, 400 Mhz), its' much faster than from my new iMac. That's annoying, especially since I almost got as far as convincing her that the Mac is better...

So...no one thinks they have a good printer for OS X?

I have this nice Xerox personal laserprinter which only works with windoze. I remember reading a thread somewhere from someone hacking his own driver for a non-suported printer. Is there any way anyone can make one for me? There are also Unix drivers for it, so it can't be too hard, right...

    Your iPod Name

This product works just fine with the iPod. However, is a densely populated country like The Netherlands, there are so many occupied FM frequencies, that you keep on searching for the available ones. I am planning to take it to Tanzania, Africa and expect to have a lot of fun with it there!

    Crossover!!!!!

As both macs probably have firewire, you might want to use a FireWire cable and startup one of the Macs as a firewire harddisk (press "t" during startup until FW icon appears). Much easier and more convenient then networking!
