I found my old InstallESD.dmg and tried same procedure with that, and it worked. I will take the firmware ISO to a computer with a working CD burner tomorrow just to see if it works then. Thanks for all the help!

Sorry, bu what do you mean by "repartition as GUIDE"? I have made a format of the USB stick in the Erase part section and chosen OS Extended (journaled). I also tried MS-DOS (FAT) with no success.

I don't help. I just get the preference etc. when I click there. killall Dock don't change anything either.

Did something, don't know what. But now my Dock is very wide. I can't change the size or anything in the prefs panel. But the zoom effect is working and I can still rearrange icons etc. Whats going on?

Thanks El. Because I have 33.000 images in the /images directory so to save time it would be good to exclude that directory. I will cd in to the directory that I will compress and then run your last code.

So I can just wright: tar czvf archive.tar.gz --exclude=images To exclude the images folder? (want to be sure not to make any bad mistakes)

Would you happen to know how I can tar.gz a directory BUT excluding i.e. images from the tar?

Thanks for your reply but, It's not .DS files and as they already are compressed as i.e ZIP, sending as Windows friendly want make any difference.
