Am I the only one that likes the brushed metal?

To put things into perspective guys, boot in OS9 like I had to do the other day for the 1st time in months. You'll agree with me that brushed metal and aqua ARE BOTH much easier on the eye than the old OS. I just love everything that comes out of Cupertino so much since OSX was released...

    DVD Playback and TV

I tried the mirroring thing and DVD Player seemed to hang up. It would not display on the TV nor the Powerbook. When I set the TV as the main monitor, I could only play with the smallest viewer. As soons as I tried to increase the size or go full screen, the app crashed. Help!!!

Look for an invisible file called Office PID located in the Office X / Office folder. Delete that file and reinstall. :D Hope it works!

    DVD Playback and TV

In the Read Me that came with 10.1.3, it is mentioned that playback is now possible on a second monitor. I thought for sure that I could view DVDs on my TV set like I did in OS9. After testing it last night, I could not drag the viewer window in the TV screen. That's what I used to do in OS...

OS X.2 What do YOU want??

I want a bunch of the stuff that was mentioned before, although I won't repeat it except the scheduled startup/shutdown. But ONE THING that has not been mentioned: I want to be able to name printers that only show up as an IP address in the printers list.

    look at spymac now...

Another thing they got right are thousands of valid email addresses from suckers like yours truly :p , who couldn't resist looking at the rumors. I wonder what kind of junk mail or "special offer" will be coming my way once this list of die hard Mac fans gets sold to a bunch of companies. I...

    iMac chrome goose neck thing

Apparently, the patent which Apple holds for the swivel arm on the new iMac is built to accept a REMOVABLE flat screen. It does not take that much imagination to think they could possibly come up with a removable "tablet" in the next release or as an option or add-on. The tablet would work...

    Red Faction OSX patch available

For all you gamers out there, this seemed like the best area to post something about a game.(I think we need a games Forum since OSX is supposed to represent a new beginning in Mac gaming) I just saw a RF update which was posted on www.macgamefiles.com It fixes a number of things like...

Does anyone else NOT like iPhoto?

Vanguard, Select an album, got to Share and you'll see a Quicktime tab. You can choose the size and background color that'll show up on the edges if you have a mix of portraits and landscapes. That QT file can easily be embedded into a web page or saved on iTools as a movie file, but...

    Entourage X and Exchange server

Eventhough M$ talks about IMAP 4 support and the possibility of connecting to an Exchange server using Entourage X, I still haven't been able to do it. Does ANYONE know how to do this? I'm clued out?

One OSX technology Microsoft ignored in Office X...

You're right. Appleworks does not take advantage of this either. About the Cocoa thing: Internet Explorer IS an exception to this. Even the preview (5.04 or 5.05 , I forget) that shipped with OS 10.0.x was taking advantage of mulilingual support and as far as I know, that is a Carbon app...

One OSX technology Microsoft ignored in Office X...

It is well known that OS X supports multilingual GUI. Developers can ship applications with resources in several languages. When the app is launched, it looks at the user's prefs in the International (control panel  ) or whatever and determines which set of menus, command and help...

    a bit extreme...

My theory is becoming LAW! Another (future) Mac/VW owner. (See my previous post a little higher up on this page).

    a bit extreme...

A guy once asked me if I drove a VW because I liked Macs. I answered no, but come to think of it, there does seem to be a higher than coincidental occurrence of people who both drive Volgswagens and own Macs. Even in this thread, two people talked about Apple stickers and their VWs. That's...

    Renaming printer in Print Center

At work, where I use about 5 different printers, I've been adding printers using their IP. Unfortunately, when selecting a printer for a job from an app, all I see are the IP addresses and I often make a mistake since they're so similar. Is there a way of renaming them in Print Center...

Post your OS X.1 Desktop Pics!!!!

Go to www.carracho.com to download the client and www.tracker-tracker.com to find trackers (which keep track of active servers) Ever heard of Hotline. It's similar, only much better since it is a Mac only community with a lot less garbage than what you find on Hotline. Good luck! :)

I think my desktop is a good complement to the exterior look of the Titanium. Anyway, it changes often, but I like it CLEAN!!!:p

    OS 10.1.1 but Finder 10.1?

I also thought they had improved the Finder. One of the problems 10.1.1 seems to have solved is the size of movie windows within the finder. Prior to upgrading to 10.1.1, if the finder window was smaller than the movie preview window, the movie would get squeezed in an unproportinoal way...

    Internet Explorer 5.1 and proxies

Has anyone heard anything coming from Microsoft or any other source that would address proxy problems with IE 5.1 under OS 10.1? I've been to every forum, discussion group, news site, farm house, dog house, town house (that's Tommy Jones in The Fugitive :D ) But nothing! To add injury to...
