    AAC tags?

If you are ripping music in iTunes, from a CD whose info is already there thanks to CDDB (make sure iTunes is doing this, or else...lots o' typing), then most of the id3 tags are there and complete.

No Info Rights Management for Office:Mac says M$!?

I am very afraid. And since I am writing a research paper on that very issue, I have begun visitning DigitalConsumer.org every day.:(

No Info Rights Management for Office:Mac says M$!?

Why would they sue me for informing them of the inevitable failure of the document's security feature? But this goes back to the point that all one needs is a simple "Print Screen" or screen grab. Then forward the data from the protected doc - which, as this scenario shows - does NOT stop...

No Info Rights Management for Office:Mac says M$!?

I will send that customer to a URL of software that will inevitably exist that cracks DRM in these docs, and opens them anyway. And I will send them this URL in a secure email from Mac OS X using SSL/SSH whatever security we use for em@il.:)

    PowerPC 970 Info Thread

The change might not be, but Apple may simply be trying to promote the event. Mentioning the date change is probably just them using every opportunity the get to inform people. Kind of a "keep all bases covered" sort of thing.

Apple CPUs falling below Intel in power

Ok, apparently at least part of what I said was misinterpreted, partly because I felt that I didn't need to explain it further. Fortunately, Hulkaros once again unintentionally came to my rescue: Macs work. I sell Macs based on that one fact alone, and I have yet to have a customer come bak and...

    PowerPC 970 Info Thread

That reminds me of the impossible to upgrade PC's companies like Packard Bell and Compaq used to make- one card would be the sound card, graphics, and modem, and stuff like that. The problem is that you would try to add a good sound card, and the crappy one built in to the modem card or whatever...

Apple CPUs falling below Intel in power

2 responses: 1.) Mhz (or Ghz) don't matter. What matters is the actual performance, and since Macs are better at multitasking, they actually perform better. And soon Intel has to do the "Mhz Myth" marketing for their new chips, which don't have rediculously high, power-hungry...

    LOL this is funny ->

I don't think it was funny at all. I think it was stupid. And he made up key-commands (Command-.-Space?), and complained about problems that only are true in OS 9, in conjunction with the dock. While some may find this funny, I see it as somthing for windows users to try to point to to argue...

    PowerBook 15.4", when? Can't wait...

Yes and no. While the metal can cause interferance, the Titanium causes more than the Aluminum. Also, Airport Extreme I believe handles interference better. So it is possible, on an Airport Extreme Base Station, to get range from a 12" or 17" PowerBook that is equal to or better than the range...

    why macs are better

Then this thread is badly titled. The article is why Mac Servers are better, if what you say is true. Except, out of the article itself: "So, [Unix-based] Mac OS 10 is my desktop [operating system] of choice." It says desktop. Later the author mentions the Xserve being good for specific...

    iWorks - office replacement

Here's something:Keynote files are (supposedly) XML files. Since XML seems to work for presentation files, and I'm sure it would work for word processing documents, I have to wonder if it could also work for spreadsheet and drawing documents? If so, Apple could stick to one standard (XML) and...

    20" Cinema Display - feedback

I get to see all the Apple displays whenever I work. Based on my experience, deciding between the 20" and the 23" is no easy task... The 20" does offer an incredible viewing experience, and offers enough screenspace for most people. However, with the 17" PowerBook now shipping (a little ;) ), I...

    iWorks - office replacement

'i'-Apps are consumer, digital lifestyle/hub apps. The apps you are discussing here are for pro use, not really consumer apps. Safari, iChat (which shouldn't be an i-app IMHO), Mail, and Address Book are key components to the OS. Key in the sense that every OS should have a web browser, em@il...

    PowerPC 970 Info Thread

Yes, AltiVec is tm Motorola, which is why Apple calls it Velovity Engine, and according to IBM, the 970's "extended floating point caapabilities" are fully AltiVec compatible, meaning that software compiled to take advantage of AltiVec will also get a boost on the 970.

    $1 a song by Apple

If you follow Apple's HotNews page, you might notice that MacOS X's Java capabilities were just updated, and Apple claims that Safari is the best browser to view Java content in on a Mac. Now, Apple also announced, shorlty after Safari's PB first came out, that they would provide documentation...

    Camino 0.70

Is it possible that you should instead put the personalizations into ~/Library/Application Support/Camino/etc../Resources/prefs.js ? Maybe just rename the 'Chimera' folder in the Application Support folder to 'Camino'? Just a guess, I am not at home, so I cannot yet try it.
