are you sure you have not deleted a user named nobody in you Netinfo manager ?? Whit os 10.0.4 i had the same problem ... because i'had removed that user thay i think it was unnecessary .... stupid me !!!

I' had a similar problem on a PowerMac G3 .... unfortunatly i had to change the motherboard.... but ... try to disconnect the ethernet cable reboot your mac with the apple-option-o-f keys down (you will get in a blanck screen with some little words ... it's called open-firmware) then...
