Have a look at the details for the drive in Apple System Profiler. I believe that for iTunes to see the drive, it has to appear in the profiler as 'Fully supported.' for Disc Burning. I'm guessing that burning from the Finder doesn't work either?

I think it's a valid question.. I've seen Mail.app take 5 seconds or so to open a message with a double-click. No funny stuff either; plain text, short, with no attachments. It seems to get worse as time goes on, and nothing seems to make it better - empty trash/junkmail, restart the app, etc...

don't know about 9.22, but in macosx, msnmessenger has an item in its own preferences to launch at login, that if left checked will launch it, regardless of whether it's in login items.. might check for that..
