i want a good PHP book

I've read "Beginning PHP 5 and MySQL" by Jason W. Gilmore, and I did learn PHP. Second edition will be available on October 24 according to Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1590595521/qid=1128386322/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-7821947-6965629?v=glance&s=books&n=507846...

I don't have the magic solution, but you may want to check the apple-scitech mailing list where your question is more likely to be read by the right people: http://lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo :)

    Bridging two networks

If you need high transfer speeds, you should connect the computers in a wired network, and it's probably worth investing in gigabit (1000 Mbps) equipment, i.e. gigabit switch(es) and category 6 cabling. This is especially true for servers, because wireless networks are generally unreliable and...

    Lunar Living: 2015, 2025, 2035?

You can hardly see a 60W light bulb from some distance in daylight, but a 1W laser diode would burn through an eye instantly.

    can't find PHP source folder

To install magickwand, you need to first install ImageMagick. Then PHP must be compiled from source to include ImageMagick support through the magickwand extension. This is a somewhat involved process, but these instructions can be helpful: http://www.phpmac.com/articles.php?view=221

    Re-boot

There's a tiny hole on most CD players where you can insert a bent paperclip to force the tray out. If it's a slot-loading drive and there's a disc inserted, you can hold down the mouse button when the Mac starts and the disc will eject. Not sure if the mouse button trick works on tray-loading...

    Hi!

Not sure if it's in Express, but in Pro there are blue/greenscreen filters in the Effects menu, Effects->Video Filters->Key. "Blue and Green Screen" and "Spill Suppressor - Green" is what you need. There is a tutorial on how to do them in the FCP documentation, so if these filters are in FCE as...

    Colors in Terminal

Colors and font-weights do display in the Mac OS X terminal, but ls doesn't use that by default in OS X. You can use the -G option to specify ls to use color and -F to append a slash after directories to make them distinguishable. 'man ls' also contains some fun :)

someone who can work with DNS

If just the DNS name is blocked, you can use login.glogin.messaging.aol.com or 64.12.200.89 instead. Or try another server. In iChat, you can change the server or domain name in the Security pane of your AIM account in Preferences. Another alternative is to use Jabber which allows you to use...

Hehe, looks like one of those intentional leaks from Apple. The graphic is reverted to the original now, as in senne's original post which is the picture from Apple's server.

New Tiger build prevents use on non-authorized Intel boxes

10.4.1 for x86 can't be called beta; it's an incomplete early developmental version, probably not much more than what the x86 team at Apple has been maintaining for the last years. The 10.4.2 build is more complete in this regard, with all cocoa frameworks ported to x86 and an SSE implementation...

    Built In Camera's

While small cameras can have great resolution, the picture quality suffers because of the small lens and CCD. Small lens means little light and small CCD means less color sensitivity and clarity. Remember that a web camera is mainly used indoors and not outdoors in sunny weather.

    i hate IE

JavaScript is the main source of incompatibility because many functions are platform-specific or differ between platforms. Most of what is done with JavaScript should rather be done with server-side scripting, i.e. by other people.

Why won't Mac open sites hosted on it?!

Sorry, but that's just wrong. You have to specifically tell the router to forward requests on port 80 to your Mac, because the router has no idea that you ever set up a web server or on which of your computers. There is usually a section in the router setup for "NAT port forwarding" or...
